I have been searching and I cannot find a consolidated answer. So far, the only rigid schedule I have followed is that I changed the spark plugs at 40k and 80k. The owners manual is very vague on a lot of critical items. Lots of "Inspect", but I just noticed that based on a severe driving schedule (I think I qualify) I should have changed the diff and transfer case fluid every 30k miles. Whoops. But it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. For example, why does driving on a dusty road change the differential fluid interval from infinity to 30k per the manual?

Also, why are guys changing their engine oil so frequently but not other fluids? A transfer case isn't cheap... and the transmission - never change. Really? Really? That seems insane.

I agree. Never changing the transmission fluid is crazy. My truck specs the fluid should be changed out at 90k miles. I have done it 3 times already or about every 1.5 years.

We don't see it often here, but the old 6 speed can run you 6-8k for a new unit. The 10 speed is surely more expensive.

For the transfer case and differential question:

-dusty/dirty roads you are more likely working the truck.

-there is a breather on top of the axle. Not really a "sealed" unit.

-towing you are heat cycling. Towing 10k with your 2023 truck...be interested in knowing the casing temp.

I'll admit, I'm guilty of more frequent than recommended oil changes, but have mostly neglected the diff, trans, and t-case fluids on my previous 2008 and 2015 Tundras until they were north of 100K miles. I also live 7 miles from the nearest paved roads, and our dirt county roads get very dusty and muddy at times. It never caused any problems, but I plan to be more vigilant with maintenance on my 2023.

Can anyone tell me what a Toyota service center typically charges to replace the diff, trans, and t-case fluids on these new trucks?

I'm going to follow the severe driving schedule. I have short commutes (15 miles) one way and theyre mostly on broken down asphalt. 2wd here so my maintenance is cheaper than you 4wd folk

I made this excel spread sheet, from the service required in one of the books that came with the truck. Hope this helps out.
