I disagree. Chubb has the athleticism to play LB in a 3-4, and only walks around at 270. It takes time for anyone to get used to playing in a 2 point, even the great #58 took some. Walker was a 285 lb DT/strong side end in college, and while athletic, was never drafted to stand up. There’s a big difference between OLB’s in a 3-4 and those in a 4-3, along with DE’s.

EDIT: Also, while Whitworth is a very good LT, saying he’s HOF bound seems like a bit of a stretch.

Agree to disagree then. Silly move having him stand up and even dropping back in coverage. He and Von are completely different football players.

I will agree that Walker should never have been converted to a stand up linebacker though...

I agree on having him or Von drop back in coverage, far as I’m concerned neither should be asked to do that more than a few times per game and only on disguised blitzes. That’s the beauty of a 3-4, and most teams running it as their base almost never drop their OLB’s into coverage. I think Woods is getting cute with things and is overthinking it.

That one still boggles me. I understand he’d lost weight because he was sick, but when I watched the guy’s highlights from FSU, it just seemed to scream “5-technique.” And what boggles me even more is how they keep Kerr active every week but never Walker.

The kid was legit at FSU. As a life long bleed orange guy I’m finding it very difficult to tune in and watch this mess. and this is from a guy who watches the entire preseason games.
How in the hell is Bolles not on the bench?? Again, Elway had to have him even with Mike Ramschek siting there so he will continue to go out there and suck.

Agreed on Walker, I loved the way he played. I’m a big fan of physicality and violence in offensive/defensive line play.

Bolles is playing because there isn’t a better option. Benching him for Elijah Wilkinson would lead to Keenum getting murdered, wish they would’ve kept Cyrus Kouandjio on the roster. He’d of been a serviceable tackle, at least so Bolles could sit for a game and hopefully get it together.

Now Leary is done. We are in serious trouble. Keenum is going to get killed and Swag will get his shot in a less than stellar situation.

At least we don’t have to replace a starter with Donald Stephensen, though Garcia is only slightly less terrible. I’m more worried that both Keenum and Kelly are gonna get hurt, then they’ll have to play what’s his name. Thinking there’s gonna be more than a few new offensive lineman on the roster in 2019...

It’s a stretch. Next year when this team has been purged and will possibly be playing a 4-3 and utilizing the talent they have we will get to see if Chubb was worth the 5 spot. I believe he was if they stop trying to convert him to OLB.

All three of his sacks on Sunday were from when he was playing as a stand up pass rusher, so I don’t see how ya think he’s ineffective. Add in that he pushed around one of the better free agent LT’s from last year, and I really don’t see it. He may not be as athletic as Miller, but let’s be honest, I can only think of one other edge rusher in the entire league that’s in that category. I highly doubt Denver changes to a 4-3 with their core defense. Miller is better in a 3-4, Gotsis and Wolfe are protype 5-techniques, and Peko is about as close to a protype nose as you can get. The supporting cast behind those starters on the DL fits the current base defense as well. Add in the fact that it generally takes 1-2 years to make the transition gel, and you do more harm than good with that.

This article seems to imply that he was playing his natural position of defensive end much more often Sunday.

Here’s his second sack. Whether his hand is in the dirt or not that is a 4-3 formation from what I can tell.

I watched the highlights of his sacks. Here they are:
    https://youtu.be/0Ex5vgNzrpc

He’s standing up on all three. And just because they have 7 guys in the box doesn’t mean it’s a 4-3, the 7th guy is likely a safety that just didn’t have anyone to line up across from outside the tackle box.

Big Al even commented on how they were using him more in his natural 4-3 position but what the hell does he know?
I’m thinking me and you will not see eye to eye on this but hey, that’s what makes the world turn.

That’s what ya get when you have a rookie QB and a shitty O-line. But even so, can’t deny that #58 and #55 are one hell of a combo.
