Just saw a report the other day. This researcher went on several cruise ships with a particle measurement analyzer and determined that some cruise ship air particulates were as bad as Shanghai....this means...drink more margaritas......

While in AK there where half , full, and overnight cruises. I did the half day and full day a couple times. Of course there are the obvious sights but the main thing was the FOOD. Buffets of King crab, halibut, clams, reindeer sausage, salmon. Oh yeah! You could get food and booze all inclusive if you wanted. Good air too...heh..heh..

2 cruises, a 4 day to Nassau, and a 7 day in Alaska.

1st cruise I did the formal dining, ship excursions, etc. It sucked. I don’t do well in forced social interactions, and was miserable the whole trip

2nd cruise we ate when we wanted at the cafe, set our own schedule and booked our own excursions. Never set foot in the formal dining room, so saved on tips as well. Much better time, balcony is a must. Spent most of my ship time on it with binoculars watching wildlife.

I’ve been on a bunch of cruises, mostly Disney and Royal Caribbean. There’s a plethora of info here:
    https://www.cruisecritic.com/ftc/

You can visit their subforums on your particular cruise line, what to do at the ports you visit by searching the country. It’s great to get off the ship and explore whether you go to a beach or check out the culture. My only tip here is if you plan it yourself, take your own taxi’s etc, it’ll cost 1/3 of the ship’s excursion price often to the same place.

Before our first cruise, I thought the same, 7d is too long and it’ll be boring! Boy was I wrong, there’s so much to do, so much to eat, a casino, comedians, broadway style shows, bars everywhere, they’re floating cities. The week will fly by and you’re going to have a blast Adam!

The one and only cruise I've been one was a Disney 7 day out of Galveston. Took my daughter when she was 3. The ship, food and entertainment were nice but seven days is a long time on a boat . We stopped at three ports and although it was a very large vessel it didnt have enough real estate for me. I'm a pretty active person.

Unless its another Disney cruise for the kids, I doubt I would do another unless it went to Alaska which I've heard is awesome. Ymmv.

We’ve been on several, they were fine. They’ve all been with Royal a Caribbean. The food at the buffet wasnt bad and the formal dinners would great. We eat at our own table instead of sharing with other folks. Entertainment is pretty good and usually always something to check out. Ports are mostly flea markets. A room with a view or balcony is our preferences. The views at sea while sitting your balcony are nice. 7 days will probably go by pretty quick. Get the drink package or they’ll clean your wallet. Enjoy!

Most of all, You and Mrs enjoy yourselves together ...and eat in moderation you may put on a couple of lbs! I think someone already mentioned, but to avoid maritime roaming charges $$ shock, check in advance with your phone carrier for rates you may expect once you leave port into international waters, or keep the airplane mode set/use ship's wifi if reasonable. Bon Voyage!
