Not long ago i backed in a little to far in the water trying to launch my boat, ( muddy bank, not a public cement ramp) We mainly fish remote places that feed off the river. Had to call my dad to come pull me out. In that situation shovels or traction boards wouldnt have done any good. The back tire was under water in gumbo mud. If id been in the 2022 tundra id be driving back with a few busted front end pieces in the bed. Once i was also backing down a dry river bank, then hit a soft spot all at once and all 4 tires sunk down and i was sitting on the frame, had to call a tow service with a 100' winch to pull me out by the towhooks. Doubt if a shovel would have helped much there either. These things dont happen often, but if you hunt and fish alot in remote places, its not if, its when it will happen. If you live out west where its always dry and never have to deal with mud or snow , then your probably ok without tow hooks.

I hunt in a lot of remote places by myself. Obviously you should avoid a 3rd Gen Tundra.

So many people hated the all plastic hulk hogan mustache front end on the 2022 4Rundra that when it became apparent there were no tow hooks it was the icing on the cake!

Tow hook bullshit, payload bullshit, color bullshit, political bullshit, christmas bullshit, everything is bullshit. In this case, bullshit is a catch all phrase for stuff that is usually taken too seriously. Maybe I could have chosen a better word. But then think of how boring this thread would have been.

I respect your opinion on tow hooks and appreciate you giving me the benefit of the doubt on my neutrality. Truce?

I don’t have to make up my mind about anything. I’m enjoying the sarcasm.

You’d be better served writing a letter to Toyota corporate telling. Them you are going to brand whatever because you dislike their new design. That’s probably more effective than bitching on the internet. Yeah, they’d be nice. Ive also gone decades without them.

I am tired of seeing other threads derailed by incessant fixation on an issue everyone knows about and no one can do anything about.

If my truck didn't have factory black tow hooks, what else would I needlessly paint TRD Red for no other reason, than to flash some bling.

    Bingo!

Thankfully my Tundra had them too. It spent more time at the dealer than this truck….

In your avatar, it looks like your out west and it probably stays dry most of the year, you probably dont need tow hooks. Around here, you defenatly need a 4x4 to get to the good spots most of the time with all the gumbo mud. i guess that why their so good, because most folks dont want to go thru the trouble.

Meh who really cares, they held off on putting in Tow hooks due to fuel economy, theres still a spot for them and from what I've seen from underneath it looks to pretty easy install. I'm sure aftermarket will mold up some snap pockets and a set of hooks, minimal cutting on the bumper bolt the hooks to frame and set depth and snap the new pocket trim into the hole to give a OEM clean look.

me personally its not a big deal When I get one since I'm probably just going to build a Aluminum flush center winch bumper with D ring tabs. And in the long time words of several 4x4 show hosts, "when you get stuck you are normally driving into it, the best way to recover is the way you came in, thats why we are putting a winch in the rear"

now I don't doubt that front recovery points could come in handy or be used for other things, the but the fact is Toyota built the Tundra in a wind tunnel and to provide the highest mpg efficiency the didn't put them on. And most guys are just going to run a aftermarket winch bumper if they are serious about front recovery points. ;)

    Great Idea.

I'll get a giant TRD Red sticker for my rear window to match the tow hooks.

    Win Win.
