Hi all. Have you guys had any issues with the factory backup camera randomly working or not when putting in reverse with this Alpine iLX-511?
I don't think it's a lose wire because even at startup and putting in reverse, it's hit or miss if it works, and sometimes when it's working it will flicker on and off while in reverse.
Maybe a firmware upgrade will help?

Check the build link in my signature.
I have had similar issues, but have also noticed it happening after we get heavy rain so I hadn't yet had the time to try to do some troubleshooting.

The only thing I've noticed is that sometimes on first start up, there will be a delay before I get a picture. It always comes up, just takes a minute if I start and then immediately shift to reverse.

I have not had any issues with the rear. My front however blinks but it was traced down to the resistor on the power line being under the hood. I need to cut it and extend inside the cab... or wait until I move out of Arizona LOL

This is the only thing I've noticed. Takes about 20 seconds after startup to be able to get picture from the rear camera.

What firmware are you on? I'd recommend running the upgrade no matter what - seems to be better stability on all the wireless connections after the most recent one (https://www.tundras.com/threads/the-great-hu-install-of-2023.129229/page-29#post-3429452)

I'll have to look into that. I too have the flickering front camera. It's so random, sometimes it works flawless and other times nothing but the flicker. :annoyed: It had the same issue prior to the Apline when I was running the factory head unit and the FRAC harness. I thought maybe it was the ground connection, but that seemed solid.

@TRDFerguson on a side note I think it was you that posted pages back about trying to figure out a way to remove the SiriusXM 360L message that comes up every time you access SiriusXM through the apps screen. Maybe it wasn't you....it was a while ago. Anyways, I found that if you switch sources via the musical note symbol on the bottom of the radio it will change sources and when you get to SiriusXM there is no popup message when accessing through this method. Not sure what you all have connected, but hitting the button twice while on FM radio will get me to SirusXM and four more presses will get me back to FM radio. I haven't found a way to delete the popup message through the apps, but I've been using this workaround for a while.

It's a major pain in the dick to get it working. I'll try to write up a quick thing about how to do it. I haven't looked lately to see if the newest firmware is available as a USB install, so I'll check on that too.

Nice! I've honestly never even noticed the music button lol. But, they did remove that stupid popup with the latest firmware update, so it's a non-issue for me now.

Did you have to reset all the settings to default and configure from scratch after this update? I remember the previous one asked for that

Cool, I want to upgrade but kinda don't want to reset everything. Was there anything special for the front camera in the recent upgrade? Are you able to make it turn on automatically when moving slowly?

If using RCAs to the amp, can I unpin the speakers wires from the harness to save space? Or am I missing something?

    I assumed as much.

Anyone know what RCA length is needed to traverse from the HU to under the passenger seat?

I used a 15 foot combo set and had plenty of slack. I’m sure you could go shorter but not sure how much.

On the brown wire on the OBD connector, can't I just tap the wire on the other side of the OBD port, rather than permanently taking up the OBD port?
