Cool glad to know I'm not the only one. Guess there is not much I can do to fix that then.

There’s a spot where I’m driving on an overpass towards Austin and my CarPlay will skip every time there. Most likely just an interference from a Government Black Site.

You're going to end up wearing a hood and then waterboarded in a warehouse.

How do the cameras work with the HU? Can you turn on any camera at any time or do you have to be stopped to work any camera? I got buried with reading then had to bail in the middle. Trying to prepare for the FRAC I have installed

There are a couple spots in town this would always happen with the Kenwood. If I was in the area long enough, it would cause the HU to reset. Interested to see if the Alpine has the same issue.

Funny enough one spot in town this happens is adjacent to a NSA building.

Cameras can be activated at any time. Reverse kicks it on automatic just like OEM. FRAC would no longer be necessary is my understanding.

I'm a former highly trained military broadcaster. I'll be talking so much that they'll capture me, get about three blocks down the road, drop me off, and then go check themselves into a psychiatric hospital in the hopes they can get my voice out of their heads (they won't be able too :)).

My advanced training was at Fort Meade. They told us that if we walked too close to the NSA parking lot, we'd get chased down by military police. Never said what would happen next. Can't imagine it would've been them taking us out for a beer run.

Thx for all the help in this thread. Had my 509 installed by BB today. Not thrilled about the gloss black Metra kit, but that’s my fault for not paying better attention while ordering. Currently both USBs (CarPlay and charging) are threaded thru the open punch out, so I’ll have to order a part for that. Happy w new HU, pissed at you guys for making me feel like I needed it

You would have realized you needed it without us eventually.

Stay out of the supercharger and suspension threads if you feel this way now. That's 100x more expensive.

After looking through the mind boggling amount of sound adjustments this thing offers, I'm a bit overwhelmed trying to fine tune this thing. And none of the preset sound settings sound quite right. I know it's pretty equipment specific, but can the audiophiles in here post your crossover/eq settings as a baseline for the less-sophisticated? If it matters, I have Polk Audio tweeters in the sail panels and Polk 6.5 coax in the doors. Kenwood's in the dash corners. Phoenix Gold 10's in a sealed box all run off an Audison 5 channel amp. Thanks

I completely agree, there is always that point when too much of a good thing just becomes too much period. I can not get this thing to sound good. Previously I had the stock HU to a 5 channel Alpine amp through speaker level inputs to aftermarket speakers and an Alpine 10" sub in a box I made. It sounded pretty good actually. Now with the ilx-f511 there are not only 10 or so up/down adjustments on the EQ, but you can even slide each of those left/right along the frequency and up/down, plus you have to do it for every single fucking speaker!
Yes, it is louder as the rca outputs more voltage than the stock HU does and as we know, an amplifier can only amplify what it is supplied with, thus louder, but not as quality in sound at this point.

Honestly, I am questioning my decision to install this. Between the jiggly screen, crap sound, overly complex adjustments, and not being able to do split screen (JFC, my stock non-JBL Toyota stereo gave me multiple options to divide the screen).

I have the Dasaita dash kit with the metal brackets and mine doesn’t flex at all. it is the Kenwood double din also. I’m actually liking the volume knob better than the oem setup. Much easier to reach from the armrest.

Turn those gains down. Way down. I have a DD1 (for setting gains) if you'd like to borrow it. I was shocked how low I was able to set my gains in my last system.

Yeah, I've already turned them down quite a bit, maybe I'll do a little more. I still need to fuck with the 1,392 available EQ settings too. :frusty:
