just a heads up the ones from Japan have a 99 dollar shipping charge… so it’s not like the price reflects the quality. here’s some pics of a brand new OEM stud next to the brand new eBay studs.

I wanted to get these studs too but just saw on the webpage “16.3mm spline diameter” instead of 16.5mm. Do you feel any difference comparing to your rear ones or being loose?

Thanks for the information! Bought the new studs and had them in hand from order date in 8 days. Found out I had a stuck lugnut on my rear tire in the process so I luckily had 10 extras to replace it. Glad I found that out on the lift and not on the side of the road. My Father in Law has a lift, Ball Joint remover, and experience which made this job a piece of cake.
Everything worked great. Thanks again for the information!

Getting ready to put some new Method wheels on. Bought some longer, stock thread wheel studs for the front. What is the consensus on the best black lug nuts for method wheels with the longer studs?

Is there a part number for the wheel studs that you bought? Or a link to them?

Yeah I want to bump this thread. As some of you may know I was running the blackhawk extended wheel studs and nearly lost a wheel. I can't say that the studs failed me but I am concerned about running these again. Alas, my replacement wheels will need extended studs again but I'm not sure the blackhawks are the correct knurl. Description only mentions 16.3mm which is not factory. I know there are some ebay postings here about some that are the same and that looks to be the only true oem spec replacement now.

@Burdturger How did you nearly lose a wheel? Did your lug nuts eventually come loose some how? Did the studs break?

Just read your thread and am about to double check the torque on mine as I use those wheel studs. I just got back from an 1100~ mile road trip yesterday (I'm tired) but I made sure everything was solid on Friday (double checked lug nuts were torqued, PSI in tires were good, etc). I'm running the proper style lug nuts with my Method wheels as well.

@Toe404 How are these extended studs holding up so far?

Going to put some after market wheels on my 2023 Tundra. I am a little fascinated that there isn't a lot more information out there about this subject, to include extended thread lug nuts. Are there really Tundras and Tacomas running around out there with only 3-5 threads of engagement on regular acorn lug nuts with OEM studs?

Installed the Ebay studs today. Pic below shows stock, bent Japanese, and the Ebay. I have to say the Ebay studs were a bear to install. So much so that I didnt have it in me to do the other side today. I ruined 2 lugs installing the ebay studs and had to clean/reathread the threads on all of them. After realizing each lug was destroying the threads on the lugs I got a more heavy duty stud installer. My verdict is the ebay studs are pretty stocky but crap threads and they are too long which makes installation much more difficult. I will see how they hold up and think that they will work but ultimately left thinking we still don't have a perfect solution for aftermarket longer wheel studs.

edit: also I had a lot of metal flakes during install of each stud. I dont know if it was the studs shearing or part of the tool ie install washer. Just left me feeling pretty unsettled to see that.

Also here is the stud installer kit I had to use. The bearing tool that someone else posted didn't work so well due to the length of the studs.

I want to follow up on this, studs are coming in and I'm putting new wheels/tires in 2 weeks, what size lug nuts should I order? 50mm or 35mm?

Your Methods should fit just fine with stock studs and Method or Gorilla ET style lugs. The issue is mainly on wheels that don't allow ET lugs.

cool write up! I’m about to change mine with longer ones. When putting the caliper back on do I need to do anything special to it? Or when removing it do I need to do anything special or it will just come off and go back on easy?

    Update on the eBay studs!

    Installed @ 11,940.

sadly been horrible at doing my tire rotations. But performed one yesterday at 23,788.

There is ONE issue. Nothing is loose, cracked, rusted, or compromised at all. Unknown to me was that the locking lugs from RRW are NOT compatible it’s the eBay extended studs as the locking lug bottoms out on the stud BEFOFE it seats against the rim.

that being said each lug on the front are damaged from trying to tighten the locking lug.
So if you are going to run these studs please make sure that you run open ended locking lugs. I’m sorry if anyone has also incurred any damage. If you zoom into the lugs and inspect the threads you can see the damage, also the light surface rust on the rotor where the wheel had a slight gap, allowing moisture to get trapped, which can be seen on both sides.
