I’m planning to install 5100’s and 275/70/18 or 285/65/18’s sometime over the next few weeks. I’d really like to know how stiff this going to make the truck ride. I don’t want to make it too harsh.

Honest opinions from those of you with e-rated plus sized tires?
What air pressures do you guys run in them on the road?

    Thanks.

Gotta run them at the pressure that keeps tread flat. I have stock size e rated BFGoodrich. I run 50 psi front 35 back

E rated tires are significantly stiffer. Stock tundras come with tires made for a soccer mom suv.

My 35s E rated bfgs I run 40psi .Decently soft ride for my lifted truck amd tires wear even. Unless im pulling my camper then go up to 60 in the rear

I'm on E rated 35's w/17" rims with pressure set to 34psi front/back. Chalk test test tells me this is about as low as you can go without thinning out the centers. Ride is definitely harsher than the P-rated 20" tires that came stock. Tolerable would be entirely up to the individual. I'm fine with it...rides like a truck should lol

I ran my Toyos on my old F250 at about 45 psi. Made a huge difference in ride quality but it still sucked, cause it was an F250.

Those ride stiff no matter what .I will say the more you do after market to the tundra the more stiff it may become but depends on what you go with also .As far as shocks and lifts .and wheels and tires I like the look of more tire them rim myself and it helps the ride quality .

Yea, I’m concerned the 5100’s in conjunction with the E tires might make it too stiff for my liking. Although, supposedly the Sport suspension is a bit stiffer than the other sup packages. May not change it at all.

I think it wont change much. Its good amd soft on 18s little more tire. I dont think the struts will make much of a difference eather .

Look at some different shocks or different wheels (17”) to open up tire size/load range for what you want.

Every now and again I come across some used King Shocks for the Tundra.

I'm running 275/65r20 E-rated tires inflated to 50 lbs. Definitely a bit stiffer, but very comfortable with the 6112's and 5100's. Even my wife thinks it rides better. I really think the suspension choice makes a difference.

I just had these wheels powder coated so I’m stuck with an 18” for a while. I think I’ll have the 5100’s installed and see how the ride is before changing out tires.

275 70 18 Load E got 115000 out of my first set 40 psi all the time

    Second set 275 65 18 Load E tire running 40 psi
Rotate them at 5000 mile never had any issues the ride to me feels like a truck is supposed to feel.

I have E rated tires. I have a Sport and my suspension and tire specs are in my sig below. They inflated them to 40psi and they are smoother and more supple than the 275/55-20 Stones that came stock. Cornering is fine. I think you will like them. I'm running 40psi all around. Max psi is 65.

The 5100 leveling shocks on the middle setting seem no different to me from the Sport tuned Bilsteins. Now I'm on the top setting and installed shims. I also installed 5100s in the rear with lifted shackles. The truck has more roll and is a tad bit more bumpy. But it's a Truck. :D

295/65/20 Nitto Ridge Grappler. I run 40 PSI all they way around. Like Mnorris pump it up when you haul something. I really should be running 32 in the front and 35 in the rear per Nitto.

It is a great improvement for sure . I really think it's almost like factory now back is still stiff of course but that's just a trick to me.

I found a chart today (think it was Toyo) for a general idea of what the tire pressure should be. On my 285/70r18's I am about to install, somewhere between 40-45 psi so will probably run around 42.

I got it by looking at my stock tires (and spare) and looking at the sticker in the drivers side door, then comparing the stocks to this chart to see what hhey were.
My stock was 285/55r20 and door said 49 psi. My spare was something different (think 255/70r18 and door said 33 psi iirc).

Compared those to the new size of Ridge Grappler's and so think I will he really close.

Great to hear. Still love mine for sure!! Mnorris you helped springs right? Could that make it ride rough in the back.

Yes. The pop sound in the front. They had cut some of the steering bump off. I think it was when I would turn hard right and jack up the front. Still does it just in one spot. It’s a better deep dip I am waiting on to tow my boat and seen if I am going with you have to help the load in the rear.

May need it maybe not. But keep in mind it is a bumpy ride on rough bumpy roads I just didn't like the look of mine all loaded nose was way up .

Thanks for your response. Nice to hear from another Sport owner. Your build is almost identical to what I eventually want to get to. What's your opinion of the Falken Wildpeaks? They're near the top of my short list of tires.

    Not nearly enough room here!
I have LT 285-65-18's with 6112's in front at lowest setting and 5100's at stock setting in rear. 50 lbs seems like my ideal inflation in all four. I get a good solid "chalk-pad" on the ground at that pressure. The ride firmed-up but I expected it. All I had to do was comment to Wife on how much better the truck rode and she agreed.

I have a front spacer to level the truck. I had stock p metric tires and it road a little stiff in the front.
I did some research and bought these ATX grabber e rated tires.
275/70/18 and they actually ride better on 40 psi than my stock p metrics. 4E81387F-1C63-4A54-A60B-8F46FC850D91.jpg
