Tonight, we were getting hammered at work. At least, I was.

Production had shot a camry quarter glass weatherstripping mold full of fuckin rubber. I was helping tear it down, and clean the rubber out while pulling off to answer maintenance calls.

I went to airbags, and was working on a tape machine. Another maintenance call. I decided they'd have to wait. While I'm taking this tape machine apart, the parts handler walked behind the machine. No mask, shivering, wearing a jacket. She looked like a skeleton walking.

She went behind some totes to hide, and crouched down. I left the work station, the machine down, and all the people waiting on me to tend to her. I crouched down next to her, and said "Hey, my names Noah. Are you feeling ok?" She said "I hurt. I just hurt. I'm sweaty, and cold, and I hurt." I said "Okay, where do you hurt at?" She said "I hurt in my chest, my back, and my stomach."

My first instinct was she was having a heart attack. She told me that she felt dizzy, and everything went white. She couldn't see. I carried her to the med room while I whistled for the supervisor to come with me.

Her arms were too small for our "universal" arm cuff on the blood pressure machine. I couldn't get a reading. The whole time I'm checking her out the supervisor and I are talking to her. Keeping her calm, telling her stories, and asking her questions when she felt calm.

We found out that she's in her mid-40s. Was severely addicted to heroin for most of her adult life, but got clean about four years ago. I left her with the supervisor while I went to retrieve her things. I asked him to step out with me. For a moment, she was alone. The supervisor, and I talked for a brief moment. I told him that this looks like withdrawl now. He agreed.

He went back in the medroom, and stayed with her while I went to get her things. She refused all of our treatments that we could give. I walked her to her truck where her "man" was waiting. He was asleep in the drivers seat. I woke him up, and helped her into the passengers seat.

I told him with a bold voice. "William, my names Noah. Your girl Jenny is having some sort of a reaction to something, or is having something beyond what we can test for here. I strongly recommend you take her to the ER. Have her seen by a doctor soon."

He said nonchalantly, "Ok." She was still shaking. She was struggling to put her seat belt on, and I helped her.

He started the truck, and they drove out of the parking lot slowly. I got the sense from him that this wasn't the first time thus happened. I bummed a smoke from the supervisor. We discussed everything that just happened, and then I went to lunch.

Yeah, Probably not. My hands are tied, and william struck me as a "Good ole boy." She told me he was in his late 70's. Retired. Probably don't want the piss test. It's the world we live in.

I place her weight at around 100lbs soaking wet. Probably close to 6 feet tall. Walking skeleton.

    Most likely. A shame.

This kind of thing happens everyday. The temp service she is employed by doesn't screen for substances.

The other temp service does screen, but my employer pissed them off. They no longer conduct business with "us."

I was working with one of my old co-workers one night. We were moving a steel table into a new area with a forklift. To get into the area he had to raise the table up about 20 feet to get over some stuff on the floor.

He bumped the parts rack, and this 6×12 foot table flipped over, and came crashing down. Sparks went flying on the concrete floor. He looked right at me, laughed, and then said "oh shit."

He called our supervisor over the radio, and asked him to show up. He told the supervisor. "Listen, you can't piss test me. I won't pass. I smoked a doobie last weekend."

Our supervisor paused for a moment, and said "clean this shit up, and make it look like nothing happened. I won't say anything about it if you won't."

Upper management would have had the three of our asses if they knew. Lol

That's how it should be treated, like alcohol. Don't go to work under the influence.

Our last work Christmas party was a blast. Lol

It lasted until 2:00am on a Sunday. Work on Monday morning. Drinks flowed like water so I'm told. I worked that Sunday night so I didn't get to attend.

I was on lunch when most of dayshift started staggering in at 4:30am. The ones that did drink came in hungover, and were sent away with a point. Which was foretold in the itinerary for the party.

Out of 200 people on days, they only had about 75 show up sober.

    Poor planning on management's part.

We have some of the most highly educated idiots I've ever seen in management.

For example, we have orders for parts. Consistently, they always average (just throwing numbers around for the point. Not exact.) 500 a shift. So a thousand a day.

We have contracts for these parts. If we don't have an order we don't make them. Even if we KNOW for A FACT that there will be an order that comes in.

Automakers don't just up and cancel a whole line of cars on a whim. Even then, there's service parts for "out of production" cars. Like all our first generation, and second generation tundras.

Our team members here will push brooms Monday through Thursday, and then an order for a week's worth of parts will come in Friday.

Boom, Saturday and Sunday work. Now, you've got all those team members getting time and half on Saturday. Doubletime on Sundays because it's a "holiday."

All because you didn't want to make "scrap" parts for something that you know is a guaranteed order.

    Wow, just wow.

Upper management here in the power generation world loves to change maintenance schedules on a whim. They have this schedule 5 years out that's hilarious.
They also are known for NOT wanting their name tied to an important decision, in fear of it being a flop. :annoyed:

It was a dark and stormy night. Well it was very dark at least. I was about twenty (so a couple decades or so ago now), zooming along a two lane highway in my tiny new Ford Focus, on my way back to my hometown for a weekend off the base. It was about a 3-1/2 hr drive, nearly all of it unlit and sparsely populated bush. Being invincible, I sped like crazy. I came up behind a transport truck and impatiently pulled out to pass, seeing no signs of incoming traffic. I was just past the trailer when all of a sudden I saw another one appear from a jog in the highway that had been hiding it. It’s lights grew larger so quickly, filling my windshield. At that point the thought “well I guess this is it” went through my mind and I instinctively closed my eyes and leaned in to the right. When I opened my eyes again I wasn’t dead and I was traveling ahead of the truck I had been passing. I could see no way that this could have happened given the narrowness of the highway and little time for reaction, I drove the rest of the way feeling very surreal (looking back I definitely shouldn’t have been driving) and never told anyone about it until today.

If they did screen, it would just mean she would have no income at all. As long as it isn't a safety concern for everyone else working there, of course.

Wyatt, and I were walking up out of the parking lot. We walked by this little Hyundai wagon.
    20210427_174220.jpg

I told him "Look at this thing. It's the perfect size. Do you know how many deer I could kill with this?"

He said "I like how that's your first thought. How many deer you could kill with it!"

We both laughed, and then carried on.

About 30 minutes ago production called for maintenance. I arrive on scene, and investigate the situation. Trouble shoot, and make some adjustments.

Production went to break as it was their scheduled break time. I'm between two machines loading material in, and I hear this loud shriek, and then a blood curdling scream. I stopped what I was doing, and rounded the corner of the machine expecting to see an amputation, or a squished finger.

Turns out, neither was the case. I see the areas team lead approach me with a dust bin. He handed me the bin, and said "This is what that scream was about." I looked in the bin, and see a reddish brown toad about the size of my thumb just trying to get out of the bin.

I said calmly "You're kidding, right?" He said "Fraid not, that chick over there is from the hood. She'll stab a mfr for 30 dollars, but she's afraid of a toad. Here, your names Noah. Put him on a boat or something. Just get him out of my area."

"Ok." I took the little guy out front to the stream that runs in front of the plant, and sat him down in the grass. He seemed happy to be out of the bin, and hopped away.

    Tonight, a co-worker and I made a small, embarrassing boo-boo.

We were mounting a 10 foot stick of uni-strut to the concrete floor. The uni-strut is for a 1/2" air hose to be run down from the mezzanine. Not too much weight. Wyatt handed me the drill bit, and I slapped her in the Bosch hammerdrill. I drilled that hole quickly, and efficiently. We swapped the vacuum onto the extension cord, and sucked up our concrete dust.

Wyatt handed me anchor bolt, and I plopped her in the hole. She went straight down. Turns out a 5/8" anchor falls right into a 3/4" hole pretty easily. We discovered our mistake, and laughter ensued.

Then the head scratching started. How do we make it look right with a bigger hole? We didn't have a 5/8" drill bit for our remaining anchor bolts. All we had was plenty of 3/4", 3/8", and 1/2".

Wyatt suggested using 1/2" anchors with fender washers, and JBweld it to the foot of the uni-strut. We pondered it for a moment, and then decided we wouldn't be able to make the lock washer flat properly for a good, tight look.

I smiled, and said "Watch this shit."

1/2" jamnut, lockwasher, and washer on the other side of the foot.
    20210518_020410.jpg

Wyatt said "How are you gonna get a 3/4" inch nut in a 3/4" hole?" I simply said "I'm gonna use my big pecker." I reached into the fourth drawer of my tool box, and retrieved my 2lb sledge. I beat that mf down in there, and called it good. Wyatt smiled, and said "I can't believe you just did that."

I had one of these moments below.
    Screenshot_20210518-023649_Google.jpg

Now, let me ask you a question.
Had I not just told you the story of our fuck-up/cover-up? Would you be able to tell that any of them were not tight in the concrete?

The NSFW is at the end... Mainly what was witnessed but wanted to be safe. Mods, if this needs to be deleted, please feel free to do your duty!

Figured I'd share a story from my days of working phone tech support at a local dial-up internet provider. This is just one of the many that induce a chuckle every time I think about it.

I was 16 at the time (circa 1997) and worked as the evening tech support. Most of our typical calls ranged from being unable to connect to the inability to download one's mail if their mailbox filled up. We were generous with our provided mailbox storage at 50MB and occasionally someone would receive a large attachment that their 36.6 modem couldn't download before being disconnected from the mail server.

Being the early days of the internet (and privacy being not as important as it is today), large attachments usually piqued our interest. Official protocol was to remove the attachment from their e-mail box but unofficial protocol was to download the attachment to our personal folder to see what it was (as it was usually some sort of NSFW file that a buddy sent another buddy) that we would all collectively share.

One Friday evening, a lady called up complaining she couldn't download any of her e-mail. Sure, no problem. I ask her for her username (for simplistic reasons, it was something like Barbie22456 which caused the young naive boy in me thought oooo Barbie you say? Me gusta!) and looked her up in the system. Looks like she had a payment due but wasn't 30 days past so I let her know about the bill to come in and handle it at her earliest convenience. She said she'd be in the next day to pay it and with that, I proceed to put her on hold so I could troubleshoot what may be wrong.

I log into our unix system and open up her POP3 account to find a 250mb video attachment in her e-mail box. 250mb?! Why did our mail server even accept it? Oh well. Looking at the context of her e-mail, it just said 'Here is the finished product! Enjoy!'. Hmm, vague. Ok whatever. I download the video attachment to my account and hop back on the phone. I informed her that it appears there is some large video in her e-mail box. She was confused as to what I was talking about and said to go ahead and delete the file... Sure, np <snicker>. I delete it and ask her to check her e-mail again. I notice everything start to disappear out of her POP3 account and seems its all fine and good. We end the call after she deems everything is working on her end.

So, with that said, I inform the other tech on duty that I just downloaded a 250mb video attachment out of this ladies’ e-mail and ask if he wanted to come check out what I may have found. Of course the answer is yes and so we hop on a machine that couldn't be seen from any angle but ours.

Upon opening it up, we are immediately horrified. The other tech starts to gag as we witness this large woman performing fellatio on a horse. Oh. my. gawd. This is one of the foulest things I have witnessed on the internet (at least before stileproject and all of the other shock sites). The video is about 4 minutes long. Being completely shocked, we watch till the end in utter horror as she finishes the horse off and then proceeds to throw up from the influx of fluid into her stomach.

What did we just watch?! We agree to save it for sharing on Saturday as we shouldn't be the only people to know about this. This has to be experienced. With that, both of us came in early for the morning shift on Saturday to share our secret find. We call everyone into the back room except for the sysadmin as he was busy dealing with a customer and proceed to cause gagging fits on everyone that witnessed. Everyone is utterly shocked at this point from our find and is left speechless. As everyone shuffles out of the room as a single file line, we discover that a different customer is in the front of the store than when we walked to the back. We all stop in our tracks to realize that the star of the horse video was standing at the counter being helped by the sysadmin. Turns out Barbie22456 came in to pay her bill that I told her about the night before.

TL;DR - Learned a hard lesson about privacy and accidentally discovered beastiality porn in customer's e-mail box.
