    Small Update: 12/4/2021

Scored a full set of Powerstop brake rotors and pads for under $300 with shipping on black Friday. As I installed them I also cleaned and painted the factory brake calipers red. Came out pretty well and the brakes are much better than the factory warped rotors.

Also took a minute to finish wiring in the VLED puddle lights I installed in the bottom of the mirrors. They are wired to the cargo light circuit and will come one with the key fob ect. Very bright at night.

Will soon be adding new LED TRD Pro headlights and fog lights up front.

The seats in this truck came out of a wrecked 2019 TRD Pro. The bolt in directly but the wiring is not exactly the same. I added some stuff for the power seat ect. Also for whatever reason Toyota changed the seatbelt buckle in 2014+ my 2007 seat belt will not click into the new seat buckle. You can either put the older buckle on the new seat or the newer belt in the older truck

Ehh about 15ish MPG Avg. I am in the middle of extensively testing my digital display in my cluster which has digital speed readouts, instant and avg MPG and a lot of other data

That's interesting, I figure RCSB being the lightest Tundra you would see good mpg, I'm going to use that to justify buying an RCSB, are the doors the same between gen 2 and 2.5 regular cabs? any plans for suspension?

Well my custom display shows 16-17MPG highway but I’m still working to verify that data. Lots of logging and driving.

The doors are huge and the same as the 2014-2017 regular cab. The newer ones even have the older style door panels because Toyota didn’t want to redesign them.

Suspension already has the SOS Performance 2/4 drop kit.

After a year of mapping and logging CAN Bus signals from 2007-2020 Toyotas, I was finally able to retrofit a 2018+ instrument cluster of work in my 2007. I have a CAN Bus gateway/translator inline with the cluster harness that disables all Safety Sense features and converts signals into a format the newer cluster understands. This was a huge task retrofitting a cluster to work on a truck that’s 10 years older than it. Still some small bugs to work out with MPG, Range but very close. I think this is the first successful case of a newer cluster with digital speedometer and square style gauges working on an older truck.

Also about to reflash the odometer value to be correct.

Talent right there. Pretty impressed with what you've accomplished with this rig. I'll never post up an electrical mod now lol you've outdone anything I could come up with!

Thanks, talent or obsession sometimes I’m not sure which. I can’t even begin to estimate the hundreds of hours of work behind this. I do however really enjoy sharing and learning from others on this forum so keep posting.

Also thank @e30cabrio for this one. I had pretty much given up on it but his 50,000 messages of wanting to get a new cluster working in his Sequoia pushed us to where we are today.

Hopefully more coming soon. I know I can wire in the radio for Navigation instructions, radio station info, ect on the cluster display. Oh and also digital TPMS data could be available now with a newer TPMS Ecu

Eventually I may have gained enough knowledge to go work for Toyota one day or something.

Yes it’s an arduino based microcontroller that reads in communication messages from the truck, translates them, and them modifies them into a format the newer cluster is looking for to operate the gauges. All code and programming was written from scratch which took all the time.

The translator is wired into a patch harness that just plugs inline between the cluster and the main body harness of the truck

Well thank you @e30cabrio ! Maybe yours and Jeff's work can be the giant leap we need for aftermarket solutions to updating these older clusters. I hate the one in our Sequoia. I get out of my Tundra then jump into the other and it's like I went back in time haha.

@Jeff_5_7 ever think about going into the tuning aspect?

Check the build link in my signature.
    Color me thoroughly impressed.
In some ways, this makes me want to retire and start building custom RCSB "Gen 2.5's"

Or maybe just start learning microelectronics (I'm a structural engineer by background).

If only there was a market for it. I would/could see myself building more one day.

Call me crazy but I don’t think I could sell mine for less than $30k. Yes I’m aware it’s a 200k 2007 but it’s also very unique. May sell one day may never. Someone somewhere would pay that kind of money for it.

Buying and cutting down a 2022 double cab would also be cool to see. It would mainly be metal/fab work. If money prohibits this could be something I purse one day. I have had several friends cut down F250 into diesel single cab short beds which turned out pretty cool.

My background is in Civil Engineering also but focus on transportation. I do forensic engineering as a day job but have family who were great structural engineers also.

I do auto electronics and coding as a hobby. Reasons sometimes progress is slow because most my work is done on weekends and all self taught.
