I put down a deposit on a 22 Trd Pro 4 weeks ago but now that I see the US pricing I may move down to the Platinum. Around 60k US is what we paid Canadian for a 21 so now it would be closer to 77 or 78k !
We don't even know the hybrid pricing yet so.....

Yeah. I was full steam ahead with a Platinum but I am reconsidering that - The jump in the Platinum trim is a hard pill to swallow.

Yeah, we were really looking forward to going to Toyota after test driving all the brands this past summer. 2021 price difference between SR and SR5 was $1700. Now that difference in models alone is nearly $5k. All we want is a bare bones truck that has good towing capacity. All the brands have nerfed their base models towing capacities now, even Toyota. So disappointed... To outfit an SR5 with the towing mirrors now runs just over 50 unless I missed something in the reading.

Base SR5 is about $45k from what I saw. Surely you should be able to add tow mirrors for less than $6k, even if you have to wait for the aftermarket to have something.

Base 4x4 SR5 is 45450 after dph. The advanced technology package, which includes SR5 convenience pkg and adds tow mirrors and towing tech package is 2490. 47940 before state sales tax makes it 50816 before title and plate.

Yes, nerfing the SR and then giving it almost no option choices is not good for those of us looking for a basic vehicle that can tow well. SR max towing is only 1800 better than a Tacoma. Not enough for campers with rigs that are more than a tent on wheels

I paid $38k+taxes CAD for my 2019, new.

So no. I'll be keeping mine for a while at that price.

Crazy for an sr5, bought my 17' sr5 for $34,700+taxes new, this pricing is a big blow to those looking for a base 1/2 ton truck IMO. These prices are also assuming dealers are not going to be marking them up as well.

I had every intention of buying a fairly well loaded SR5 but now comparing costs I think it makes more sense to just make the jump up to the Limited. That gets me the JBL sound, wireless charging, off-road package vs TRD sport (on SR5) and soft-touch interior for just over 1500 more.

I almost upgraded in 18, now i wish i would have as the 18 price looks cheap in comparison! No thanks on paying 2x for a 22 what my 2010 cost me new. It’s not double the truck

    Hey folks:

Forget all the prior price points we've all paid in the past for any of the models.
Anyone take a drive out to any of their local car dealers lately, irrespective or make or model?
Guys - there's no inventory. No one has product to sell. Start with chips, then down the entire bill of materials and the impacted supply chains - this will last (IMO) 1 1/2 to 2 years.

Limited inventory and heightened demand is a recipe for higher prices. Period.
New car dealers are selling less units and making more money with less staff - it's an MSRP (+) world.
This isn't opinion - this is, regrettably, fact.

All that aside, I have $2,500 down on a 1794 arriving on 12/9. My deal is at MSRP (which is auto buying extremely painful).
The twin turbo engine is a Lexus staple and amazing. The hybrid engineering is totally new so I don't mind letting that bake in their R&D oven a few more cycles (plus, I value the under seat storage room).

I got my '21 TRD Off Road CM (not Pro) for $44k ($49 MSRP w/packages; $42 without).

'22 CM SR5 is now $45,8. Assuming a similar cost for additional packages, that would be roughly $53k USD. Since discounts don't exist anymore, that's roughly a $9k swing in costs in the span of 12 months. Add on dealer mark ups and it's even worse.

Increasingly glad I got the '21 when I did.

Prices are right where I expected. And the improvements on this truck compared to the un impressive second gen make the prices seem very worth it to me. But I didn’t realize just how many packages were available however. I plan to get a pretty loaded sr5 DC with 6.5 bed in army green, as I think it looks the best and comes with 18” wheels instead of the 20” on all the higher trims. I was considering a limited at first but I don’t see the point anymore. I can’t really see anything I want that I can’t get on a sr5.

Local dealer here that is a top producer has 27 cars on the lot, that's it. They have been good with not marking up but are starting on the highest trims. Not sure where they are going with the 2022 Tundra yet as South East Toyota hasn't updated any pricing in their inventory locator system as of about noon.

I already was probably not going to buy a new Tundra because I’m just not impressed with it. These prices have made it pretty clear to me that I’ve probably bought my last Tundra. My next truck will probably be a GMC 3500.

Toyota is going the Big3 way...soon you will see $6000 -$10000 cash on the hood. Damn, I paid $40500 for my '16 CM Limited 4WD.

Average car price in the US hit $45k in Sept. up from $40k in Dec. pile the redesign on top of that and it’s not a surprise. I’d love a new Tundra but am really glad now that Tundras are so reliable - I’ll keep this one for a while!

No thanks for the 22’s, they have priced the working class to not afford to get one, why spend 60k on a half ton when you can get a 3/4 ton (albeit different brand) for almost same amount?

it sure is, for those of us who like the platinum tundras, grab your ankles.

not sure I want to pay all the extra and not even get a v8 at this point, need a test drive before I can go further.

a 6.2 v8 AT4 with a borla is kinda talking to me it at the moment.

The pricing isn't bad but it's the trim and options selection that's keeping me out.

I will say though the F150 I built is 9k cheaper than my quoted Platinum and the only thing it doesn't have is the rear view mirror camera mirror, vented rear seats, and rear sunshades. I expected big 3 like prices but the big 3 are still discounting and rebating.

And on paper the 5.0 vs TTV6 get identical MPG, except the F150 gets 1 less for city.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
The 2022 pricing has made the Tundra the low value proposition among 1/2 tons. The Tundra is now the most expensive with the least amount of features I care about. Reliability and durability are now unproven, and until proven do not count as a positive feature in my calculations.

I was interested in a TRD Pro, and might still be but my target date has been pushed back at least 18 months, if not more. Current economic conditions for autos, housing, consumer spending, lending etc are due for a big correction so I’ll wait to see what happens.

I think Toyota has made a mistake with the new truck by their pricing. Initial sales will be strong because any inventory will sell for MSRP or more in the current market, and quickly. Once supply catches up with demand in the overall market and the Tundra has to stand on its merits in a competitive environment where people can actually get what they want, it’s going to be tough for Toyota to justify the price tag.

You guys just gotta treat the dealer like Les treats customers. Here's how the convo goes.

Les: how much do you want for that?
    Them: $20
    Les (shocked voice): WHY?
    Them: explanation
Les: (pause for effect) I can't do that. Not even $10, best I can do is $5.

I'll still want a fully loaded TRD Pro (if hybrid is not available on 2WD), but just going to be in 3-4 years waiting for the mid cycle refresh, I have about $40k cash saved towards a new truck, hopefully by then the pot would grow enough and I can just pay cash for it

Uh.... Toyota's midcycle refreshes are about twice that long. 2nd gen was launched in 2007, and refreshed in 2014 and hasn't changed appreciably since.

    Not at all.

The SR5 TRD Sport is easily the sharpest looking Tundra.

I think Toyota deliberately prolonged the life cycle of the 2nd gen to fit the timeline of their TNGA transformation, Tundras just got unlucky with the timing

IDK. I think it's more to do with the fact that the Tundra/Sequoia are not big sellers for them. The Taco and 4Runner both got new generations and refreshes more often in the same time frame, and they both outsell the Tundra/Sequoia platform. I don't think the TNGA platform was the reason at all.
