Just noticed my flush mount Rough Country LED bumper light has condensation in it  That blows as well as the quality paint job by Toyota body shop as well  story of my life. Think I may just buy another set from another company and leave them black next time around.

Did you contact rough country about the condensation? I know they probably won't take them back, since you had them painted. Just curious if they would make it right.

No I have not contacted them. Once painted I gave up that chance. They are like $80 bucks. Not that painful

Maybe remove and take apart? Dry it out and reseal with boat grade silicone seal. Worth a try....

Ahh might just say screw it. The paint is bubbling buy the screws. When I tightened it down it could of cut into the paint with the screw head. Water getting underneath looks to be. I will just replace them most likely minus the paint.

Heck, I'd at least try and sell them, at half price, just to get a little money back. Someone with a Offroad rig would probably scoop them up pretty quick at a good price.

This is a common problem in led lights because they don't get hot enough to dry the moisture. Just my 2cents

Near military spec housings are air tight at ambient pressure. High end off road lights/ bars reflect that in their pricing. I've got a decent cheap knock off light bar. I'm lucky they haven't allowed moisture in yet. That's only thing keeping me from upgrading to the high end ones. And money...

I got them from a local guy. He is Chinese-American. He actually went to China for a month to a factory that manufactures off road lighting to order/spec. He has them made to his spec. IP67= Dust tight, Immersion to 1 meter. Not sure of the rated immersion time. 3 Watt Cree leds. Nothing to brag about there, but Cree's none the less. 20", 40 Crees. $75. It's still "tight" after almost 2 years in CO's weird weather. Baja Designs in my future.

I just checked out those Baja designs universal license plate mount brackets. Those are pretty cool. Would I be able to mount any type of aftermarket light on them? I really like the Baja design lights but they're very expensive

BD's aren't cheap but as good as you will find. You should be able to fit as long as there is enough clearance for "them" to fit.

How were they painted? Were they left assembled or were they disassembled to be painted?

I've disassembled a number of these types of lights - if you wanted you could easily take them apart, allow them to dry (steal some dessicant from a bag of jerky or something) and put them back together with some RTV or something. Did you reassemble after paint or did the body shop? I imagine that's where your problems came from..

I'm rocking a $25 pair of LED pods that I took apart to put amber 3m film on the inside of the lens, made sure to use RTV and tighten them back up evenly. So far no problems..

So you took the faces off and you want to blame rough country for their quality product. I may be wrong, but don't the faces hold the lenses and seals? The problem could have happened when they were disassembled, not because of anything rough country did. I agree with the others, just take them back a part, dry, and reassemble with a little extra care/sealant. If you want them painted, then as far as the paint around the screw holes, I would say to place a washer under the screw heads, preferably one of those washers that's rubber lined on one side, to pad them against the paint and prevent anything from cutting into the paint.

Could it of happened from me taking them apart absolutely... But I will tell you I am very anal when it comes to these types of things (PART TIME OCD) and trust me when I say I put them back together correctly. I Mean alternate tightening of the Allen screws. As for the paint job. I had issues with the body shop anyway I'm sure it's not the best paint job I could have gotten.

@Cuzican I Agree with you. And I don’t think Rough Country is to blame and should be trashed with this post title. Disassembling an LED and then reassembling only to find out after it now has a condensation issue and then blaming RC quaility sounds questionable at best. I would bet a replacement will NOT to be covered under a factory warranty claim if they see the light was tampered with.

    Just an observation..FWIW.
