I want longer shocks but don’t know how much longer without something to reference it to.

Could take some measurements and get some custom shocks built too

Swapped out my RCV axles back to OEM today. Man what a pain, been holding that off for over a year lol. The RCVs are only 3 years old but look like they’re 50 years old. Can’t believe how thrashed they look. Oh well, off to RCV they go for a freshen up. Also did the ECGS bushing annd new axle seals and what a nightmare that was! Had to grind the pulling tool over and over to finally get behind the needle bearing then putting the bushing in took probably 20 minutes of straight pounding! Sure hope that thing lasts the life of this truck because I doubt that thing is coming out. Once all that was in it was smooth sailing.

Picked the truck up today after getting the Camburg relocation kit installed, put all new bushings, isolators, u-bolts, and center pins in the leaf pack so the rear end should be good for a while. Finally closed the body mount since I cut it and just left it open 5 years ago haha. Also had all the shocks topped off with nitrogen.

About that same, maybe a little softer. Definitely a whole lot louder with these bypasses compared to the OEM bypasses I had. I’ll have to mess around with some tubes next time I take it out.

not a whole lot of shock shaft showing at ride height. Makes me nervous they have indexed the lower shock mounts too far forward and you're gonna bottom out the shock before getting into your bumps...bad things happen to that bolt-on upper shock mount...

That was the first thing I said when I picked it up, he said he did a bunch of cycling with the axle level and Flexed and that there was 3/8” shaft showing at full bump. Fingers crossed:fingerscrossed:

How has the "new" rear treated you so far?

I'll be replacing my oem springs with the U748s eventually but struggle to find information regarding the camburg relocation kit w/ 3.0 double bypasses and if it's much better than just keeping the original shock mounting locations with 3.0 king oem triple bypasses :monocle:

Since you've had both I figured you'd be the best to ask lol.

Also, have you considered stiffening the frame under the bed? I can't stand the horrible bed bounce I have to endure daily in my DC :annoyed:

I installed the 748s back when I had 2.5” remote resi shocks. Then I bought the 3.0 kings thinking they would have a longer stroke and more travel, but when I installed them I had to jack the axle up quite a bit to get the lower shock bolt in, so the shock was really limiting travel. I wanted to maximize the mid travel set up so I got the relocation kit. I haven’t even really taken the truck out at all since I had it installed, but on the road it rides about the same as it did with the 3.0 OEM kings. I would eventually like to box the rear but not anytime soon

So do you think it's worth biting the bullet before hand and doing the whole shebang with relocating shocks in the rear?

To start off my rear end build I'll be doing the leaf pack first and driving around on it for a while until I can afford everything else. Hoping to order the pack after the new year begins :)

If you're set on getting the relocation kit I'd say just buy it instead of going with the OEM replacements. Not sure where things are at now but when I ordered that kit from Camburg, it took 1 year and 5 months to get since the shocks were back ordered. Are you considering other shock brands? ADS has a Deaver spec 2.5" triple bypass that fits in the stock shock location and works really well with the Deaver packs.

Any chance you measured the bypasses for the shock relocation? I'm guessing they're 12" but would be curious what the specific kit 3.0 bypass measure to. Going to alternative would still need the tubes clocked correctly.

Awesome truck by the way!

I have considered the ADS stuff, but it'd drive me crazy having two different shock brands on my truck lol

Haven't really called in anywhere to see how long orders might take since I'm not really in a hurry yet but it'd probably be a good idea to check it out now.

Where'd you order your stuff from? I was thinking maybe SDHQ? I live in Nebraska so there is absolutely no local shops that support this sort of thing unfortunately

Hahaha I feel you on that, that’s why I stuck with king and didn’t do that route:rofl:
I ordered the kit and shocks through Camburgs website. Should have better luck that I did because I ordered it when everything had a shortage

Thanks buddy! Right back at you!
I don’t know the eye to eye length, but it’s a 12” stroke shock. I remember seeing on someone’s build thread here that he used a standard off the shelf King 2.5 x 12” triple bypass with this kit and it worked, I think a 3.0 would rub with the standard tube layout tho

Yeah, imho don't bother upgraded leaf packs without an appropriate shock package. be it relocation kit, RXT shocks or @AccuTune Offroad 's rear frankenshock they developed for the short length OEM units. the down travel limit of OE length shocks is real...

my 3.0x12 vs OE length 2.5's

Well said! When I bought the OE 3.0s it said on the website that they must be used with an aftermarket leaf pack so I thought they’d offer more but nope!
