And has a transmission that overheats when pushed. TFL had to abandon the vehicle on one of their comparison test videos. It's made to pick up mulch and do 80% of what trucks can do. The other 20 percent needs a true truck, YMMV

Don’t know the vid, but know I’ve carried over payload no issue….so there’s that - he said she said-
80% is what most ‘truck’ users need & use so your point?

80 percent...picking up mulch, groceries, towing below 5000, etc,.. 80 percent. The other 20 needs something more capable, simple as that

Didn’t that same tfl test also abandon the gmc truck as well as they continued on the trail?

Wow time flies. Video is older than I thought. Anyway, here it is. Doesn't mean it's a bad vehicle. Just that some people may need something more capable

Im not surprised the honda had trouble on the trail. Good news for honda is that no ridgeline buyer is wanting to go on trails

Which is kinda what I said originally. But be careful, capable is personal. Off-roader, rock crawler, home Reno runner. Up until I need to haul a trailer over 5k the Ridge (1st gen) for me wins hands down. Knowing I’m selling it to get a tundra, due to the towing. I could easily get that in any 1/2 ton but believe in Japanese quality & reliability in general. Otherwise my 13 yr old Ridgeline still rocks storage, payload, bed accessibility, & likely ride comfort ( I have only driven the tundra in test drives so far) oh & don’t forget true AWD for us that have mixed weather driving often.
You have only stated what I was also stating. They carry a bed full of mulch, or gravel, or limestone, or porcelain floor tiles, or plywood/drywall / 2x4s or..….I’m not saying they are in the same class in every way, but it & all midsized trucks have something to offer that many need, & whether they buy a 1/2 ton or not, that 80% is a surprising #. I can get more lumber from a store (payload #) than many tundras. That 80% matters to many. Maybe not you.
    Enjoy

There is no chest thumping going on here at all my friend. Honestly didn't pay attention to what you previously posted. The 80 percent definitely matters to me and so does the other 20. I use my truck for everything and unfortunately I need that other 20. If I didn't I would probably have a different vehicle for sure.

No worries here. I’m only a little sensitive from 10 yrs of ‘it’s not a real truck banter’ elsewhere :) That’s why forums can be dangerous, like txting. No intonation or body language to give clues as to whether mean spirited or sarcasm. Sarcasm is normally my default :hattip:

I like it, and think it will be a big hit for Ford. It’s the perfect daily driver for people who stop at Home Depot on the way home from work, or need a place to throw a cooler or move some furniture or whatever. Hell, if I didn’t tow my boats/Polaris, it would probably work for me, if I’m being completely honest. Outside of the towing, most of what I do could be done with something smaller than a 1/2 ton truck. The Maverick seems perfectly reasonable to me. High school me would be ashamed of me for saying that lol. I can hear myself saying “no replacement for displacement” or something else ridiculous and then kicking my own ass.

I don’t necessarily need a full size truck, but I want one, and I like it, so here we are. And I do put it to work, so although the maverick may be capable, I’d be pushing the limits of a truck like that on a regular basis.

No real argument here but like you said it is all relative to our own needs!
So with all of your comparisons I will point out that without my 8' bed I can not carry lumber,Pipe ,Scaffold,Strut,Ladders,Huge TVs,Etc. and my tools all locked safely inside the bed, my needs are just not the same as yours.
I also looked at the RL pretty hard myself but that trunk seemed like a great idea until it occured to me that it was not going to work for me without unloading anything on top of it to get into it every time, again just different needs not better or worse.
