Go to 4wheelparts in McAllen, they have some nice straps there, I got the 3" x 30' recovery strap by smittybilt, they have other brands as well and that bubba rope

If you work in the oilfield just find out where they put all the lifting slings that failed inspection or are out of date and snag a few before they throw them away. I used to have 10 or 12 of those 2.5ton nylon straps but they tend to disappear on the trail.

I don't live in Texas anymore, but I was born and raised near Beaumont. I spent plenty of time at the beach on the Bolivar Peninsula.

If you're pulling non-tundras;) out of the sand you want a retrieval strap (also called a kinetic strap), not a tow strap. A tow strap will break when you give it a healthy tug. A retrieval strap will stretch and then keep pulling them out of the rut once they're moving even if the rescue vehicle is no longer moving.

The most important thing to remember about beach retrievals is to wash the sand out of the strap weave after every use. The sand will cut the strap fibers and cause it to break in no time if you don't.

I’ve used a Pro Comp brand extraction strap. It’s different from a tow strap in that it provides just enough flex or kinetic energy to kind of snap back and help yank out a stuck vehicle. A regular tow strap is more static in nature and designed more to pull along. I’ve used both kinds, even stuck in mud and sand, but I think a true extraction strap might be better suited if you’re really stuck in beach sand.

Didn’t see your post til after I submitted mine. Yours has better advice, especially about washing off the sand.

Thanks! You’re not kidding about being out there on your own. My son and I only did the easy trails at the National Park a couple years ago.

What bumpers are you going for?
And I'm assuming a winch will be going in too right?

    That’s gonna look great!
It’s all about who you ride with, I’d never go out alone unless I had winch, and even still probably wouldn’t. Lol
