It’s not a bad looking truck, in my opinion, but it’s more because I have an old 04 Titan and it’s been really solid, so I wanted to test out a new one.

Gas one is still good, diesel is kind of gimmicky. You only get like 2,000lbs more towing and the trade off is a terrible (slow, more expensive fuel, loud, heavy)

I am no longer considering it because of the price, however like I said, 70k maxed out vs 54k nakedness out Tundra. They still have cloth seats at 48k

I really can't see how Titans will sell at that price point vs the Tundra, anyone have the sales number for them this year?

    Edit, google helped:

    YTD 2018

    Tundra 87,700 units sold
    Titan 37,840 units sold

If they built this then I would retract my ugly statement. This thing IMO looks damn good.

My wifes old xterra was a complete POS, transmission started failing in reverse around 60k, by 70k it wouldn't go into reverse at all. Vehicle was also falling apart- trim, window seals, etc. Cost of a new tranny installed- $4-5k, car value $2k. Xterra's and frontiers are notorious for this reverse tranny issue and hold zero value so its cheaper to dump them and move on. We got a dealership to give us $1500 for it, $500 Amazon gift card, $500 gas card and a free detail on the used 2014 4runner we picked up.

It kind of does. That Raptor is a damn good looking rig as well.

This is what I think as well. I guarantee if Toyota kept the 5.7 AS IS right now and threw an 8-10 speed transmission in it and offset that with a better rear end ratio as well.....fuel economy would soar! Bulletproof engine and better fuel economy through gearing. We don't need all this start/stop and cylinder deactivation non-sense. Just give us more gears!

I don’t think Toyota employs any of that shitty technology in any of their vehicles. I would hope to hell they don’t start with the Tundra. I agree with your thoughts. It would be a good direction to go IMO as the 5.7 is rock solid.
