It looks really like some type of spaceship. I’m old school..... I don’t like any type of hybrid, crossed over type vehicles that is confused as to what they really are. I like my vehicles simple in identifying. So, I don’t want a pickup truck that’s really a car, but doubles as a motorcycle on occasions. If I want a pickup truck, it must be a fully dedicated pickup truck. Able to do all the work that a pickup truck is supposed to do. If I want a SUV, the same thing holds true.

Tesla is very innovative, if I may say so. But, their approach to the different segments of motor vehicles are sometimes very questionable. That’s why they are having some very serious financial problems right now. They are trying to take on too much, too fast. They need to completely perfect their craft, one vehicle at a time. That’s just my opinion.

Look at Tesla’s stock!!! Because they are a public company, they cannot do much hiding of their financials. If you look good enough, you’ll see what’s happening with Tesla right now. The pending pickup truck and sports car that they have coming down the pipeline is an effort to save their asses.

Musk says Tesla's pickup will cost under $50,000 and be better than the F-150
    By Peter Valdes-Dapena, CNN Business

Tesla's soon-to-be-unveiled pickup truck will have a starting price of less than $50,000, it will be a better truck than a Ford F-150 and it will outperform a Porsche 911, according to CEO Elon Musk.

"It just can't be unaffordable," Musk said of the truck during an interview on the Ride the Lightning podcast.

That price would undercut the trucks that electric truck maker Rivian plans to offer next year. The starting price of those trucks is expected to be just under $70,000. Ford is investing $500 million in Rivian and Amazon led a group of investorsputting $700 million into the Michigan-based

Couple of things, first. No tree hugger here, but I do like the battery concept for torque/speed/control idea. Just think how much cordless tools have improved.

Major draw back on these types is battery weigh. More distance equals more necessity for larger battery thus heavier.

Why can’t turning wheels become a generator to recharge these batteries?

As in the vehicles own wheels which are being powered by said batteries?
Not possible, it would actually consume power to attempt to "charge" the batteries in this way.
They have also experimented with small wind turbines in the grille of cars, same thing, the resistance created by the turbine actually is a net loss in power.

    Nope. Fugly as hell.

I do think it's hilarious when people buy electric cars just to save the planet because electric is the green way.

My brother has a model 3 and I love the power from electric but to me it's pretty bland in looks. They all l look the same and I don't care for the interior at all. Fun to drive though.

They can do it. I am not sure if Tesla use it, but Prius will recharge when you hit the brakes. It actually use the friction from the generator to assist the brakes. Same for going down hill - the engine will cut out and the motors turn into generators charging the battery. I can't see any reason why Tesla can't do the same.

Yes let’s look at the stock. Only fallen 43% this year yuck!!! Investors are saying it’s gotten so bad it’s actually worth possibly buying again.

“Shares of the electric automaker have fallen 43% this year as the company has had to navigate a quagmire around production issues and CEO Elon Musk's behavior.”

Regenerative braking. Popular in hybrids, somewhat in electrics. It is a generator acting as brakes. It is not necessarily taking the spinning motion of a wheel and creating electricity, that would imply perpetual motion.

Photovoltaic panels or photovoltaic paint is a real solution though.

I am totally for technological advancements and innovation. I’m just saying that Tesla’s high ambitions and huge ego are compromising their ability to fine tune their core business. In the auto industry, if a manufacturer or a particular product has a negative history, it significantly impacts their bottom line. If Tesla doesn’t fix its existing problems with its current models, then, it won’t matter how great a pickup truck they make. It will still be branded as crap or questionable at the least.

Hey, if they make a pickup truck that can go 10k miles per charge, do 0 to 60 in 2 seconds. Pull/tow the space shuttle, go off-roading, cost less than $50k, comes with a 10 plus year bumper to bumper warranty, then I would be the first to buy one. :)

Tesla won't go under. Though their models that are/were going to be made in China are going to take a hit depending on the tariffs.

That aside, there's aspects of tech, hardware and software, that they are leading the industry in that will apply to a much larger market than just their cars.

Some conglomerate will keep them afloat in return for exclusive rights to some tech they are pushing. Actually, probably something algorithm based.

Let's not forget when they launch the Tesla company, and they survived.

100% guarantee it will NOT come with 35" Toyo R/T tires as shown in many renderings. And the rims will be a flat faced Tesla rim for aerodynamics. And they'll be super ugly.

Charging is fast and can be done at home using a 220V outlet.

My friend drove his family from VA to FL for FREE by stopping at only 2 charging stations for his Model 3. The charging stations were free. And the native GPS in his Tesla guides your route to the most economical route for charging and pace. It's pretty sweet.

Electric truck torque is going to be INSANELY fast.

They are leading the industry with their battery design and all. If their car models weren’t having so many problems, they would be tops in the industry right now. I am still of the opinion that they need to perfect their current vehicles first. Then, they can move on to other things.

As for the amount of subsidies that they received and are still receiving from Uncle Sam....here is an article about it.

Elon Musk's growing empire is fueled by $4.9 billion in government subsidies!

It's not "friction" it is magnetic force generated by "reversing" the motors. It is called "dynamic braking" ... By reversing the wires on the motors, you now "create" energy instead of "using" it. The electricity will then be stored (battery) or dissipated (heat) ....

I know zero, NOTHING about Tesla, just stating how that works in general terms....

LOL. I know how it works. I own a Prius. Sorry for using the word "friction". Symantics...I just wanted to get the point across that the "magnetic force" acts like invisible brake pads which is the same effect as friction.
