Others are experts more than I am but the TSS and a lifted truck do not play nice together just from what I have seen and heard here and there on here. I think a couple inches is probably fine, but anything more than that I have heard and seen problems out of the new trucks. They come calibrated and adjusted for certain angles and distances to look out front. You go putting a lift on and your angles and where the camera and sensors are looking if that makes sense.

Please keep in mind I am no expert. This is probably dealer talk, but when purchasing mine I had 2 dealers tell me they no longer will install any lift due to the TSS malfunctioning. They use to offer a truck or 2 with a toytech lift on the lot and will no longer install lifts of any kind.

I am assuming you will have to "shim" or point your sensors down if that makes sense. I am sure there is a way around it and the experts will chime in soon for sure!

MJ, maybe this thread will help. Seems like it is one of those things that is completely hit or miss.... some people have absolutely no troubles with a Bilstein 6112 lift for example, others have problems immediately. Looks like it depends on the lift and what amount of rake you have front to back.

I drove it for 3 weekends and it was fine. Then took it for alignment today and this happened. They made minor adjustments to the toe and straightened the steering wheel other than those 2 things my backyard alignment was perfect. Took it back when the alerts popped up and it was the steering sensor that was off a little and they never adjusted it initially. After adjusting that everything has been fine the last 6 hours!

Ya 6"...came down to the steering sensor.

After I installed the lift, I drove it for 3 weekends(I drive a company vehicle all week) with a back yard alignment and no issues. Go today to get it aligned. Alignment was fairly quick. After receiving the keys and paper work back my findings were....
My camber was perfect so no adjustments were made. My caster was fine, a little low but was within specs. Toe was off and steering wheel was off. They adjusted the toe and straightened the steering wheel.

When leaving I notice the steering wheel went from being slightly off to the right to now slightly off to the left. Not even a mile down the road I went to brake and felt the ABS engage for no reason. Then my traction light came on and stayed on. Along with an alert saying my trailer brake control was having problems to see the dealer. Also along with precollosion sensor alert being on.

I whipped around and headed right back to the shop to take immediate advantage of their 30 day warranty. Told the manager what was going on. I must note he knew his stuff as he has a truck with a 6" lift as well(not a tundra but didnt judge him face to face....cough Ford owner cough...) he said he would get it taken care of. Came back 20 min later to tell me it was the steering sensor.

When they made everything correct against my backyard alignment it threw the steering sensor all kinds of crazy. They readjusted it and double checked their numbers along with hooking it up and resetting all the codes.

I then hopped on the interstate and sent 15 miles with no issues. Shopped and headed 20 miles on the interstate to pick up my daughter. Then drove 10 miles of backroads. Then 15 miles of backroads to drop the kids off at friends. Then 15 miles back home to pick up my stock wheels and tires. Then 25 miles on interstate to sell wheels and tires. Then 25 miles back to the house. All while not throwing any more alerts or warnings!!!!

I should also note some things about my truck after the lift.

    • While in cruise control, my front sensor still works as it worked a stock height. No issues whatsoever.
    • My lane sensors work as they did when it was stock height, to my judgement as I keep that off anyways but turned it on to see what's up.
    • My blindspot alerts pop up when driving and someone is behind me or coming up to pass me or in my blind spot.
    • However, my parking sensors do not come up anymore when squeezing in places or getting close to things.
    • My MPH is off around 2-3 MPH depending on amount of speed. Cruise control set at 70 MPH and Waze app GPS showing 68 MPH.
That is about all I can think of at the moment. Any other incite I can give just ask...

Faaaack hate that I missed it! I got back from New Orleans for work late Friday and had UFC for work yesterday and another late night last night. I’m staying low key this week and should have everything ready for this weekends ride. Is it too soon to ride again?

There’s probably people that are better suited to answer this question, but from what I’ve talked about with Keith is the budget system is basically a muffler delete. It’s the loudest of the systems, but also has the most drone. @Erichudgins is running one of the budget systems. The 6”/8”/10” is the size of the mufflers. The 6” is the loudest he offers with a muffler, but I’ve heard it’s slightly raspy. I went with the 8” because he said it had a deeper tone, and wasn’t quite as loud at the 6”. The 10” seems to be more for people who tow, as it’s closer to stock sounding under normal throttle but will definitely have noticeable sound when you open the throttle up. People who tow normally go with that option so the exhaust isn’t overwhelming when it’s under constant tow.

Hope that helps. The beautiful part is he offers an exchange program if you don’t like how it sounds. But you’re more than willing to come listen to my 8”!

I can only describe it as unpleasant. It’s when you’re kind of steady on the throttle, like at highway speeds, and the exhaust is just kind of making a tone that makes it difficult to talk and is just noisy in the cab. I want my exhaust to me loud when I get on it, but quiet on the highway. And that’s exactly why I went with DD...
