I'm a dummy and didn't look at the PDF attachment for the carlink instructions. Only read what he wrote in the email so I wasn't watching for the flashing red light before hitting the brake pedal.

 

Just got mine today and I am reviewing the videos and instructions before I start. I just bought the basic $199 remote start. I’m guessing this little guy is not going to be used?

Got mine installed today with the Carlink app. Install went smooth and had zero issues with the door lock others mentioned. I needed some help with the Carlink but that was my own fault as I couldn’t find the directions he had sent me. Anyways he resent directions but instead he also just walked me through programming the Carlink module while on the phone. Awesome guy and I’m glad I was able to take advantage of this offer. Thanks for putting it together for us, much appreciated !

 

Easy install on the Tundra, will tackle the Sequoia this week.

Only issue for my setup is that I have an aftermarket stereo with the Maestro Module that plugs into the OBD2 port. The remote start feeds voltage back into the OBD2 harness which is read by the Maestro.

What does this mean? It means that when you turn the ignition off, the stereo stays on. The fix for now is to unplug the Maestro. I need to figure out a diode or something so I can get my Maestro features back.

 

Update: I experienced a problem with the module going offline, when you would look at the app it was no longer green indicating that it had a connection, I popped the panel back off to check everything and notice one pin on the blue connector had started coming out. I simply pushed it back in until it clipped and all is well again. Just wanted to post in case anyone experienced the same problem check that first.

 

Will the Toyota dealership give me any hassle about cutting a wire on a 2018 to install this if I have any other electrical problems down the road??

"doesn't matter you can plug into the one for the remote start . But if your maestro is one of the older ones you will need to cut out a resistor in the harness of it or your radio will stay on . we can send you pics of it if this is the case.

I had an almost instant response to all my emails and he gave me his phone number also.

 

One thing I noticed after install that I don't like. After remote starting and using the fob to unlock now all my doors unlock with a single press instead of just my driver side door.

 

Ok. Thats good info. I was really looking at the remote start and a new HU but had the same questions. How do you use to ODBII connections and does it cause issues? Let me know if you figure this out. You can't be the only one with a remote start and aftermarket HU.

 

You mean it fixed it. I prefer all my doors to unlock with a click. I hate having to double click for all the doors. I know its probably a safety thing so someone doesn't enter your truck from the other side or something. I live where that is not a problem.

I have a complaint. about this remote start thing
Recived mine 2 days ago got home from work early today so I figured what the hey give it a shot

This thing was Seriously to Easy To Install
I'm almost disappointed
It took me longer to take the trim panels off
Than to actually plug it in and activate it

I mean . Gezzz. Was it easy

Complete install last night, just need to put dash back together.
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on where to mount controller and antenna ?
Dose antenna work best kept up high under dash ?

got the car link installed and running. funny thing when i started testing it was i was having problems connecting to the unit from my phone and after looking around at the app and saw in the service status that they were having connectivity issues so i just waited til the next day for them to fix it and ever since it’s been perfect.
