I've been running now for a few months with the upgraded stereo, so I thought its about time I give some feedback.

First I turn 50 this year, but my roots go back to when we did just about anthing we could to get the boom in our rigs. My first go was with an Alpine amp I bought on payments with an 18 sub taking up the entire hatchback of my nova...

I was warned about the stock stereo in my Tundra but it really didn't bother me until my wife's girlfriend that we both have known since HS shot me a text and said great truck but your stereo sucks... LOL in truth it was bothering me that with the windows down I could barely hear at max volume, but I'm sure I've had a lot of hearing loss over the years.

So one thing I have never liked is the looks of aftermarket head units, they never look right.. I was happy to find there was a turn key solution. I'm not a "expert" I just know what sounds shitty and I like bass when I want it.

If you want a turnkey solution with a more than a reasonable price along with really good customer support look no further....

+1 i'm a fan! although i still have not won one of the raffles they do in FB after many tries, kinda hooked. better than and more likely to win that a lottery ticket. they raffle full systems, HU's, subs, etc. had a tweeter go out and JRT was all over it so echo on the service. love my custom sub box and knob.

I just ordered a full "slightly upgraded" package from James. Looking forward to installing everything soon.
Sound (more like noise) coming out of the stock speakers is the only thing I don't like about the truck...
Glad to hear you are happy with the upgrades

So what did you end of going with? I'm trying to decide what to do, I think I'm going to do it one step at the time.

Everything replaced but the head unit. The beauty of it is you don’t even have to pull the head unit. For $926.00 shipped Everything and I mean everything you need to install besides tools. And a system that will impress you..

So you did all door speakers and sub box? Which package and brand did you go with? I don't want to replace my head unit either, so I'm just trying to decide what to do.

Can we ask which system you went with? I've been "ALMOST" ready to pull the trigger on one of his systems a dozen times but worry to much about hiss and humming from the factory headunit. I too am over 50 and have no interest in an aftermarket headunit for the exact same reasons as you. Are you getting any annoying noise after you installed his system? And to the person who said "I haven’t had positive experiences with Tech 12 Volts" I must say I have twice requested information through email months ago and never received a response but will probably still go with him since the insane number of good reviews from this forum alone can't be ignored.

Buy it all at once so you get a good price.
07-20 TUNDRA CREWMAX/DOUBLECAB JBL COMPLETE AUDIO PACKAGE

I did the amp first ran with the stock speakers and subwoofer for about 3 weeks until I literally blew the stock rear mids. The amp was going into protection mode lol. The speakers were physically cracking!

Through in the new speakers and wow!

    No hiss at all...
He’s probably slammed he called me once I place the order because I asked him to do I could confirm the order. The only thing that went wrong is I was sent a crewmax sub box. He’s in a growth spurt in the company so I’m sure it’s a little hectic.

If you have a JBL head unit I believe it’s a little trickier if not at least different...

Appreciate that. So you have no non-JBL factory system correct? Did you first only do an amp and sub combo when the factory speakers blew? That was my plan to do just the sub and amp for the sub. Let the factory amp and speakers be.

Stupid question it’s not the other tech volt? I’ve gotten them mixed up...

I haven't ordered anything from him yet, but he has been great an emailing me back multiple time the past two days with all of my many questions. I know he is really busy and I feel bad asking so much, but I kinda clueless with stereo systems and money is kinda tight, so I want to do it one step at time.

    Correct

I purchased everything at once and yes at first only installed the amp and sub and just plugged the stock speakers into the new amp. He also gives you another device that handles / coverts the signal. It’s inline it’s all done under the passenger seat. You pull the factory amp and replace. I used the stock system speakers until they blew, and they sounded decent but not as good as the replacements.

My thought was to keep the stock speakers on the stock tundra amp and then plug the inline into a separate new amp that only runs the sub only in mono mode. I don't know if that would sound decent or not or even work.

As I remember I didn’t get a response until I ordered and I was not understanding what exactly I needed to order. Once I took an educated guess I put in the comments for him to call me before processing the order. He called me the next day. On installation I was stuck on something I emailed him 10pm pacific time he answered me 5 minutes later...

It will be better than stock but fall very short of expectations... and you’ll probably blow the stocks.
Also with all the installation stuff he puts in the bundle you should just save up, you’ll be money ahead then trying to piece it together and pay for more shipping.

Yeah he has been great in responding to me and answer all my questions, I will defiantly go with him whenever I can make a decision. He has given me great advice and knows his tundra stereos.

Now if I can just get my wife on board is my biggest obstacle right now, lol. She keeps telling me I'm not young anymore and don't need upgraded stereo.

    I’m 28 days from turning 50...

I can see finances being the only legitimate reason for my wife to say do you need it or want it... and what I save up for to spend on she doesn’t veto me and I don’t veto her :)

Thats awesome, I just turned 45 last week. Yeah I'm normally the one given her a hard time about spending money, so I'm sure she is just getting her shots in. I just bought the truck in July. She did say wouldn't you rather lift the truck instead of stereo, so at least she knows I'm going to spend the money one way or another lol.

I bought last September 2019 , did the stereo in May and lift / leveled last month. The wheels and tires after I burn through the stocks..

I intentionally did not align after lifting

But the tires aren’t wearing faster
