I get it - we have ring camera's setup so when the postman shows up, I get a text asking "WHATS THAT !" :annoyed:

I have a question about mix/matching different speakers. In home theater, it is really important to timbre match the front sound field, meaning keeping the mids and tweets the same across all the speakers. In this group purchase, there are Hertz tweets in the doors, JL in the center and Kenwood in the dash corners. Does that matter in car audio?

Any feedback on how difficult the install of the stadium 5 amp, sub and door speakers is? My system comes in tomorrow and I plan on doing the install one day next week. All from JRT

Another question: How do the PnP Hertz component speakers install in the rear door of a DC? There is no tweeter in the factory setup. Does the mounting bracket have a cutout for the tweeter?

Once you get the first door panel off and disconnected the others will be easy. Everything is fairly simple, straight-forward and easy IMO other than running the power wire to the amp. Getting the wire through the firewall and routed well to the amp can take some patience.

Thanks for the feedback! I've run some wires through that grommet before and can remember how frustrating it was!

Yikes! Kind of defeats the purpose of PnP. Does Hertz make a similar co-ax speaker that fits in the factory location?

Yes they will work as long as you wire it correctly.
I have my dash speakers running off speaker outputs my aftermarket HU and then RCAs to the ampo for the doors and sub.

This. You can still run the dash off the head unit and doors off an amp.

Hey brother - look at posts 81 and 83.
They posted a pic of the box for the wrong items.

Did you replace your HU as well? Since James makes everything plug and play on the speakers I assume I should wire the maestro as if I wasn't using an amp, correct?

I did replace my HU. I only wired the front channel (white and grey) on the harness so the dash speaker would continue to run off the HU. I cut the RCAs off those and wired them to the HU harness. Then I ran 3 sets of RCAs for the front, rear, and sub channels from the HU to amp.

James will have connectors to make your door speaker wire go from factory amp connect to wires to connect to the amp outputs.

Got my group buy 2020 dash kit today. I opted for the extra plug-n-play wire harnesses, and the Kenwood dash corners. Kenwood Excelon 2.75" pair. Is that correct? I thought James said we were getting 3.5s" ?? USPS damaged one of them - slightly denting the grill and broke off one of the mounting tabs. I was able to get it mounted anyway using a large washer. Center bracket and tweeters are a work of art! Beautifully designed and easily installed.

I'm running them from the stock Entune HU. Sound quality is better than stock. Sound field is a bit farther forward, and the highs/vocals are much clearer and crisper. Mids are still a little thin - a slightly larger mid in the dash would be beneficial. I'll be interested if someone is able to compare last year's group buy package with the Infinity Reference 3.5 with this year's smaller Kenwood 2.75.

Pics of the 1 undamaged corner speaker (2.75 Kenwood Excelon), and center bracket/tweeters.

I do have one question. When reinstalling the dash corner covers, do the white clips go into the dash, or do they stay installed on the cover?

Per the first post those should be Kenwood Excelon 3.5's.

I found it is best to have the white clips on the speaker cover. I tried leaving some in the dash and lost a couple down into the dash when trying to re-install. Replacements should be available at your Dealer's parts counter if you lose any.

Yes, the original post #1 states 3.5" Kenwood Excelon. As does the website link where I purchased them. An edit would have been appropriate :)

I don't think so.....these were just shipped a few days ago. Post 78 dates back to Jan 27. I'm sure James wouldn't still be shipping incorrect speakers. Also, the picture of the 'wrong one' in post 81 is not what I received.

So now I’m confused. It says the incorrect ones were shipped and you state yours are not 3.5’s and nowhere does it say 2.75’s were being substituted. Are you sure those are the correct ones? Are those the 3.5’s?

Nope, not sure. That's why I posted. I agree, it doesn't state anywhere that 2.75s were being substituted. The ones in post 81 look bigger than mine when comparing the two pictures. Are there possibly two versions of the 3.5? One that fits and one that doesn't?

BTW, the markings on the back of the speaker are Kenwood KFC-XP6902C They came with a nice Kenwood-marked HPF and the plug-n-play wiring harness.

Yeah...the speakers in post 80 are 3.5's and you have the 2.75's and those are the wrong speakers. The 3.5's do not have a grill covering them. Contact James...I'm pretty sure you installed the wrong speakers and you need to send them back.
