Tackled one front and one rear door today. Got 3.5 sheets of kilmat inside the door on the outer skins along with hushmat behind the speakers. Waiting on some quiet tape and taps for the tweeters now.

I only used about 7 sheets per door. Leaving me 6 sheets to apply to the wall behind the back seat.

Waiting for some some quiet tape and positaps to finish install with tweeters

I installed the front dash today.
Cut the harness off old speakers and soldiered it to the new ones.
    Pretty easy.

James told me that on all the factory speaker Wiring that GREEN IS POSITIVE

I cut and used my original harness as well for the dash. I have managed to get the drivers side speaker done and the rest will be done bit by bit.

I just purchased the JL Audio dash tweeters and love them, now im going to start looking at different door speakers.

I want to retain the mid bass that the factory speakers produce, kinda like the bass thang....

My question is: who has replaced just the front doors and backs with the Hertz, but do not have or use front sail panel tweeters?
From earlier posts, its been noted that with the hertz cross overs, some mid bass is lost.

I don’t think it’s the crossover causing the loss of mid bass - the crossover should be set as a high pass filter for the tweet not a bass filter for the mid. I think the loss of mid bass comes from the decreased surface area of the replacement speaker. Up front, the stock speaker is a 6x9 and you’re replacing with a 6.5”. The upgrade in sound is worth it you’ll want to plan for subs and a box from James as well.

I have sub already and as i noted the new JL Audio dash speakers. Just trying to get a head start on some method of choosing a good set of door speakers that match up well to the tweeters in the dash.
OR - am I over thinking the process?

Probably. Call or email James, let him know your concerns and he will point you in the right direction. I used my amp settings (gains and filters) to make adjustments once everything was installed. For my setup, that ended up having the front channel gain set slightly lower than the rear channel (because of the extra dash speakers) which is set slightly lower than the sub channel. I also recommend setting up a remote bass control knob for the subs.

We are in the same camp as I have a (JL) sub and amp and have only replaced the dash speakers with the JL tweeters and the Kenwood sides.

From my POV, the upgrade in the dash is good enough as it seems I hear most of the sound coming from there. I'm not sure how replacing the door speakers can make it sound that much better without adding an amp. It may make it a bit clearer (crisper), but without hearing them, I'm not sure if I will upgrade the doors. If I do, I will be adding a 5 channel amp to power everything, a better LOC along with any PnP harnesses needed not to cut factory wiring. That's where it becomes a bit more involved than I want to get in to. It sounds great already for my taste.

Guess i didnt add all my upgrades - all i have now that is factory is the H/U and the 4 doors, plus the tweets in the rear doors.
I have a kenwood 5 channel amp and the audio control LC7i installed under the front seat.

I will definitely buy my remaining items from James, just wanted to see what others were experiencing that have similar setup to mine.
Cant really go to audio store and listen to their setups, just not the same.

If I had your set up, I would do the doors. Doesn't seem like it would hurt anything.

I'd be interested as soon as plug-n-play for JBL is an option.

Well...looking for an improvement and to do some tinkering but you know...it needs to be easy and plug-n-play :)

Money isn't the worry as much as trying to explain a huge box showing up to the house...wife works from home so can't get away from that one.....and the fact every vehicle I buy...shes in the background "Here we go again with the mods"

Just let her listen to the stereo. My wife’s car has a decent system and when she used the truck she said its stereo sucks. And asked why I waited so long to upgrade.
