    Sup everyone!

I’m starting to seriously consider moving out of Southern California within the year. Lots of reasons but mostly due to the fact I work 3 “yobs” and the sky rocketing cost of living in SoCal.
Speaking/flirting with a couple of HVAC contractors in CO. One of them already made a tempting offer plus moving assistance.

    So...Tundras fam...please offer thy input.

    Thanks in advance.

CO isn't far behind CA because its had a huge influx of CA people for decades. You can have weed, but can't have a mag with more than 10 rounds. It's going down all the same roads...

The housing market is nuts around here. Even down here where I am. More people looking to buy or rent than there are houses. My buddy put one of his rentals on the market to sell and he was under contract within 24 hours.

Lived here my entire life. Never heard of Eagle Wood. If it existed it would be rapidly filling with CA, IL, OH, PA, NJ, transplants trying to make CO just like home. As mentioned, probably Englewood. A Denver suburb. Not my favorite part of town but it puts you right in the mix.

Glenwood Springs. Those are both very cool places. If you’re into the outdoors you’ll be happy. Coming from CA you’ll be able to stomach housing prices.

don't move here. this place sucks.

    kidding. i kid. partially. maybe.

moved my family up here from san diego for the exact same reasons. one of the best decisions we've ever made. one of the few where i can say that, given a do over, i would do it exactly the same. denver is getting a bit crowded, housing prices are going up, lots of plates from california and texas.

haven't spent much time in eagle except for some mountain biking. my wife has a second cousin or something who lives there. they like it. glenwood is a cool little town. i like it there. personally, i'd love to be up in a small mountain town.

    Good to hear,
Now, the job offers I have are for commercial Refrigeration/ Hvac mechanic.
    Base pay is around $90k-$110k/yr.

Is that a realistic income for those areas or am still stuck on the rent to never own hamster wheel??

I would check on Zillow in those areas for houses in your price range.

Eagle is pretty pricey due to how close it is to Vail, rich mans Mecca. But Glenwood is less... super nice place huge hot springs destination. Look into Minturn... it’s near both.

Glenwood area is pretty cool. Colorado is California 2.0 now, but if you're away from the idiots of the Eastern slope then it'd be a lot nicer imo. I grew up in the mountains near Boulder and wanted to get the hell away, I was looking at moving near Grand Junction (not far from Glenwood) but ultimately they don't offer a school that worked for my girlfriend. Lots of access to wilderness and southern Colorado which is dope.

Not to be a jerk, but speaking as a native resident, please don't. The traffic has turned into a nightmare, the state went Blue & they're attempting to dismantle TABOR, property values are skyrocketing, and the homeless population is getting out of control. Why would you want to come here?

No, hell no. All the Denver-rejects go to Englewood. No BSL laws, no B.S. taxes, no street sweeping crap, none of the Denver oversight...just all the rejects. (Like me)

And this is why. All the Californians & Seattle freaks have moved to Denver/Boulder & are making it exactly the same. Why move somewhere & repeat the same mistakes that caused you to move in the first place?!

Yeah, a quick search on Zillow and Redfin for GlennWood and Eagle shows me pricing is within $150-100k of CA.
Rent is all over the place...
Thanks again for the useful input folks!

Denver, Vail, Aspen, and especially Boulder are not representations of Colorado. Glenwood is great, and someone above mentioned Minturn. Go to the western slope and you get Grand Junction and Montrose, and SW Colorado you get the awesome San Juan mountains and Durango and Pagosa Springs. Gunnison is cool. All much more livable and more "Colorado."

If you are looking for an anti-California but bigger city, then it's Colorado Springs hands down.

The population in the state is mostly in Denver and Boulder, which has turned state politics blue, but much of the rest of the state wants nothing to do with that. Really up to your personal preference.

Nevada has more Mountain Ranges than Colorado, and homes are cheaper. Mt. Whitney in California is also taller than any Colorado mountain, just across the Nevada border! Also, easier move than Colorado. Plus, you can always work as a hooker on the side for extra cash!

Springs are alright, not my cup anymore. The north and south parts were quite different. Maybe that whole "Air Force vs Army" thing. North feels like money, south feels like you crossed the railroad tracks. I lived in the south.

    Boulder.. :der:
