The Ridgeline meets the needs of 90% of truck owners just fine. Its like most F150 owners who carry a bag of mulch twice a year and haul their kids. They are nice. I would never buy one because of preference and my personal use requirements (i think they're butt ugly too lol). But i think they garner a lot of unnecessary hate for being different.

I love the Tundra, but love my Ridgeline more. I get it - "Its not a man's truck".... Is it "Being a man" to cowardly buy/do somthing because it's doesn't fit some stereotype? If you're that insecure about your masculinity, then buy the Toyota (It's not like it's a horrible choice). But c'mon, it's truly hard not to love the Ridgeline. If you're not needing to haul a ton of schite like you describe, you're not being logical with picking the Toyota (sorry men).

Every time I see a Ridgeline I think three things.
    1. A woman
    2. An accountant
    3. A librarian

Seriously though, if you like it do it. Personally, I think they are completely lame but that’s only my opinion.

This entire thread is a insecurity circle jerk.

I have considering buying a used ridgeline or subaru baja in the past, but they both had high resale value surprisingly. They both also get mediocre fuel mileage. I unironically would drive a prius if it was in the shape of a subaru baja or a '90s mini truck. Come on toyota.:boink:

Yeah i guess i can't relate to the insecurity part either. I daily drove a Miata for 5 years before having this truck - heard every joke imaginable. Loved that car though

    Isn't this a Toyota website?
    Did I miss something here?
If you don't own or don't have desires to own a Toyota truck.
You're banished to the sissy truck site that is somewhere on the internet.

How can you even put Tacoma and Ridgeline in the same sentence??? Tacoma is a truck, Ridgeline is confused about what the hell it is... just like a lot of people in 2021...

I looked at Ridgelines around the time I was looking for another truck. We have an Acura MDX which I understand is built on the same platform. The MDX is OK in bad weather, in some snow and ice too. I rode in a fairly new one and it was not built with the same quality as the MDX. It felt cheap and rattled inside. The visibility was also terrible. I then looked at prices and they were selling for similar prices as Tacomas and Tundras. No thanks. I also looked at Chevy Avalanches. They're more like trucks since they are built on the same Tahoe/Yukon chassis but they were still GM's and were not earning much reliability points from real world owners

I'd totally drive a Miata if I lived in the mountains or something. All the roads around here are straight and flat though.

This thread is hilarious. Apparently a Tundra is a big boi truck. But if you go read a thread where somebody went 500lbs over the payload rating, a bed flex thread, or a towing thread you would think otherwise. :homer:

I was seriously considering one before I got the tundra, I would have been towing at or above max gcwr so decided to go a little bigger.
The j35 is a fantastic engine, the redesign for 2021 makes it look a little less like a minivan. It has more payload than a comparable Tacoma, has a much better seating position, drives better, etc. if I was between those two models I would get the ridgeline no questions asked.

If you don’t go on very serious off-road trails, there is no reason to get a taco over a ridgeline.

If you're wanting a smaller struck with better mileage and least look into a Colorado or Canyon with the Diesel engine.

I daily drive my Tundra and run a handyman business with it too. I don’t feel like it cuts into my profit margins driving a tundra for handyman business. I spend less than $10 a day on gas and make at minimum $100 a day. I prefer to work out of the tundra compared to any other vehicle. Tundra has the power when I need it. The room when I need it and can haul a trailer if need be too.

Great point. That diesel and even the gas versions are pretty efficient.

For the price point of a loaded Ridgeline, I'd a get a Tacoma. It has a lot of aftermarket accessories and tundra-like forum support. So from that standpoint, I'd lean towards a Tacoma.
Plus I just learned you have an option of a 6 footbed.

An ElCamino has a cool factor. A Ridgeline has nothing but fool factor.

OP, dude yeah sweet! You should totally get a Ridgeline! But ONLY if you buy a sweet aftermarket kit for it made by Toyota called a Tundra. It literally replaces everything and I think you'll be really happy with your Ridgeline after that. ;)

The Tacoma is going to have an infinite amount of accessories for turning it into a work/service vehicle, they are used extensively for this purpose. The ridgeline doesn't really fill a niche in any corner of the market, I haven't looked but I bet aftermarket equipment is minimal and expensive.

Tundra is the cheapest half-ton to own over 5 years. If it’s going to be a simple work truck for your business, get the SR model. You’ll have a slightly larger fuel bill, sure, but basically no repairs.

To me, the Ridgeline looks like someone took a welding torch to an Odyssey. There are some clever storage features, but Honda transmissions have had a ton of issues in recent years.

If any of your handyman jobs involved demolition, fencing, lawn work, or anything where you’d need to tow, you’d at least want a Taco (6800lb towing).

I’d stick with a real truck for what sounds like real truck work.

Also, you should know Toyota deleted Taco’s trans cooler in mid-2020 just like the Tundra’s in 2019.

Funny how none of us is making a payload argument. :D

You're in luck because it sounds like that's what the next gen Tundra is going to be.
