    Hope it helps. It took a few whacks, but the two times mine bound up i was able to get it open by doing that.

    Well, it worked, I checked for any small rocks which I removed and whammy, popped right open. Thank you for your immediate response and concern over the weekend. Tundra feels a lot cooler knowing this website is alive and kicking.

    I live in a state with heavy road salt use and the first thing to suffer in any truck brand is the tailgate mechanism.
    Now GMC with their multifolding tailgate looks like even more failure points in the far future.
    Keep it simple is my view and skip all the fancy expensive to replace, prone to fail, unnecessary crap.

    I like the electronic feature, when it works right. The problem with whistles and bells, and fancy electronics is they go bad quicker and are more expensive to fix. I just wish they had put a manual override on these electeic tailgates. Something you could still open with a dead battery or of the actuator failed.
