Tailgate pin seems to have come loose/broken and isn't protruding enough to properly catch the "cup" that allows the tailgate to pivot up and down (see pics). I can get my hand up and inside the bumper and push it back out but it just gets pushed back in again.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue or have any ideas on how to fix it?

Two of the pic's are the broken side and the third one is the working side to compare.

Tig Welding it may be the best solution once you get the tailgate off and the "cup" aligned

Dead stock with oem 16" starfish wheels. We'll see how long that lasts. :) Topper of unknown origin.
On mine, only half the weld was broken so I carefully bent it back, added a tailgate assist and lower the gate gently. No sitting on it until it's re-welded!

Remove the taillight to inspect what you've got. Search here for other threads on this topic. This may be the one part of the Tundra not designed to last 200K because yota copied domestic designs.

Domestic designs don’t use that design. Tailgate hinges are bolted, not welded.
