Phadedbeard, these look great, did you get hyper flash in any way on these or do they have built in resistors? We’re they truly plug and play? Thx

Smoked spyders for me as well. I love them. Perfect amount of smoke, and still very visible during the day. No hyperflash, great fit, and no issues.

After the reviews on gap and light quality on other brands, I decided on the Recons. But on install I noticed this "which way does the harness fit" situation too.

You just need to peel back the tape to match up the wire to wire colors. Might help to look inside the harness too to see which way the ground is routed.

Quick question, I noticed on the truck wire harness it shows green and no black wire in the picture but on recon wiring it shows warning to match black to black. Did you just match the green to green or did any of the truck wires have a black line on any of those colors?

    thanks for the pics.

The outside of the stock Tundra harness has a white wire in the center but if you look inside the clip that ground is routed to one side. So I matched white up with the black ground. I think Recon needs to update their instructions.

Those Spyder smoked reds look a lot less smokey in these pics then I thought they would look. When you look at their website or others it looks a lot darker. I wish there was a Spyder that was plain red with zero smoke. I'd get that one if existed.

My spyders seem darker in person than they do in my pictures. The recons on the other hand are very dark. Recon makes a non-smoked in the same looking tailight. There are other brands that make a red LED non-smoked as well

Yea I've seen the Recon red zero smoke ones. I just can't justify the money they cost. Maybe if there was a 50% off. Something that got it closer to the price of Spyders. I'll have to look into others that have plain red. I think I saw Anzo makes them, but I'm waiting to hear more about their quality and I'm indecisive on how the LED strip looks on them. Otherwise I love how they are stock looking LED tail lights. I also really like the Spyder and Recon style. Such difficult decisions to make

i havent seen enough pictures of the anzos to be convinced. They seem a little busy IMHO and i wanted a cleaner look. And i totally agree that the Recons are overpriced, its ridiculous. There are places where you can find them under $500 but thats still steep. If i was dead-set on getting the red recons, id do it, otherwise youre just wasting money buying ones youre not in love with. Buy once, cry once lol

Yea, I think the Anzo are too busy too. I think they should let me redesign them and they would sell more. Maybe I will find the Recons on major sale one day. I'll have to look and see where they are under $500 and look for sales there. But I agree and am that way too on B1C1

Yours are by far the best looking lights on here. There is a fine line between a custom look, and down right tacky . Unfortunately, the majority of aftermarket LED taillights for the Tundra look like they came from the accessories aisle from Pep Boys.

I've had the same set of Recon taillights for 5 years (I had them on my 2014 Tundra and swapped them onto my 2017). They have been 100% problem free and still look great. However, I decided to switch to Spec-D for a smoked color to match my MGM Tundra - plus I liked the sequential feature. So far, the quality, fit, and finish seems equal to my Recons. Time will tell I suppose.

I could not find one that i liked. But i just finished tinting mines today. Still waiting for it to full dry. The middle is lighter than the rest so the brake light should still be very visible.
