i had both, a 13 taco and 15 4runner limited. then couple years down the road, changed to Tundra and Gx460. taco is rough and bumpy, even armored with suspension and stupid 5ft bed. 4runner was a great balance of comfort and utility then switched to a GX for the v8. my wife was against the gx460 until the test drive and the v8 won her over. hind sight, should of bought a gx460 in the first place. in your situation: 4runner over the Taco all day, test drive the gx460 before you a decision.

4runner for sure. It is a much better vehicle in every way.

4 runner. The beloved Taco seems to be going further and further from its roots as a no nonsense pickup. They're turning it into a car for people who want to drive a truck (no offense if that's what you're after).

A couple of comments as an owner of 2 4Runners (2017 TRD Of Road and 2007 Limited v8) and a Tundra:

Someone mentioned the Softex seats in the 4runner as a negative. They are actually a pig positive IMHO. The Softex is the best seat material I'v owned, including Porsche, Audi and BMW leather. It's idiot proof to care for, comfortable and will probably last forever. It's no more sweat inducing than real leather in my experience. If i could easily put Softex in my Tundra I'd do it tomorrow.

While, on paper, the 2017 v6 and 2007 v8 are almost identical, in the real world the v8 is superior. But I test drove a new Taco, and the 6 cyl in the 4runner blows the taco away.

I'd say overall the 4runner interior is nicer than that of our 2015 Pro Tundra and the Taco.

But the biggest difference is in the drive. Our 4runner has KDSS, and it transforms the vehicle on the road. Compared to a non-KDSS 'runner, the Taco, the 4th gen 4runner and the Tundra, the KDSS equipped 4runner feels like a sport sedan. Virtually no body roll in corners etc. And it's arguably the most capable off-road vehicle of the lot.

Also, the biggest problem with the Taco is you can't get a DC LB manual any more.
