So mine came with that same trim and I wanted to use it. When you remove the wheel you can drop your controls into that trim and replace it on your wheel. I don’t know if they Tacoma controls will work as far as the button functionality working as advertised. But the trim swap worked for me.

Awesome, thanks! That's what I will do then. The steering wheel looks brand new. Definitely a steal a $110 shipped. I wish I had a few days off coming up but I dont. I might be able to squeeze install into Monday's schedule.

I wanna say it took me like half an hour to 45 min to do the whole thing. Followed a video on YouTube of a guy pulling a wheel off a 2016. It’s pretty straightforward.

Got it installed! It was super easy and I have no mechanical ability. I ended up swapping the volume button for the tacoma's phone button out too because I wanted black. So now I have two phone buttons but I k ow what they do. I definitely like it more than my Amazon wrap job I did. Although I was fairly happy with the wrap given the price.

I did this swap on my 2018 platinum today. Fired the truck up and have an air bag light, says see dealer. Guessing it’s storing information that it was removed. Going to swing by the dealer tomorrow and see what they say.

I had the air bag code pop up as well. I didn’t have the connection pushed in all the way. Took the bag back out and snapped it in. Code went away.

Looks damn good, how did you do the steering wheel emblem. Can it be removed or does it have to be done on the airbag pod?

It looks like it’ll break if I try to remove it. I kept it on the pod, masked all around it with painters tape and newspaper. I used Plastidip and after it was dry, I just pulled away around the outside and in the middle sections like you see in PD emblem vids using a toothpick. The PD perfectly stays only on the emblem.

Which tacoma year would fit a 2014 tundra? I'm assuming anything about 14?

has anyone experienced the steering wheel being misaligned after install? im not sure if its just me but it seems the wheel is slightly leaning right when driving in a straight line.

The steering wheel has splines to align it. It sounds like you reinstalled it one or two splines off. When I swapped mine out I noticed I was slightly off, so I took it off again and rotated it one spline over. Try that first.

i see. do you know if there is a procedure to execute this correctly to ensure the steering wheel is center? are there any markings for alignment?

Would a misaligned clock spring contribute to this at all?

no, the clock spring will not contribute to the misaligned steering wheel. But if the clock spring has been moved from its original position, it's possible you will break the clock spring. An alignment will fix the centering of the steering wheel. I got lucky on mine, The steering wheel was still straight.

This didn't help. I moved it one spline to the left now its off to the left. Need an alignment then? I plan on getting some coachbuilder shims installed, going to get the alignment anyways.
