Gotcha. Mine's a Limited and I think it is leather, so I guess that's why I was confused. Maybe you could find one from a Limited Tundra?

absolutely LOVE the look of this and want something similar - not sure if i have the skillset to make it look as good as yours. how hard was it to paint out the silver pieces? assuming you removed everything?

Thank you, I have since blacked out the head unit bezel and TRD shifter too. That’s as far as I’ll take it.

    IMG_9851-2.jpg

Watch nk1749’s vid to remove the air bag to get at the steering wheel pieces, it’s 2 torx screws holding it in. Don’t forget to paint the volume rocker. It’s not hard at all, I have never taken apart a dash. YouTube how to remove the head unit, the rest is clips and pulling away. Take pics as you go so you don’t have to rely on memory when you put it back together.

I did all the plastics the same, sanded with high count grit, Rustoleum flat black primer for plastic, followed by flat paint. The HU surround I painted in satin Canyon black. Make light misted passes for a smooth finish, a few coats (never painted before either). It just takes patience, questions I’m here!

For those of you looking for a tacoma or 4runner wheel to drop in, i just ordered one off of car-part.com it's an online salvage yard site. I picked one up for $100. Waiting to get back from a work trip to install it. Just another option for everyone to give a look.

I used this site too. Mine was $110. Can't wait to get it and install it. I wrapped mine myself but my OCD wants the factory wrapped.

I did the same. 100 for leather Tacoma steering wheel from a truck with 7 miles on it. Was a crash test truck. 20 shipping, so 120 to my door for essentially a brand new wheel. Will sell the wheel, gray buttons and cruise control for 120 easy.

You’ll need your existing hardware controls, only the wheel fits and is swapped in... unless you mean selling your current plastic wheel and the Taco controls. The combo I see going for around $75.

Still an awesome way to get a leather wheel for $120. Be sure to watch some leather cleaning vids and condition it to eliminate the sheen and make it supple.

Just picked one up on ebay the other day. $124 shipped. From a 2014 Tacoma. Thanks for this tread. One of the things I didnt like about the Tundra coming over from a Ram with a leather wheel.

Some say they wiggled off. How important a steering wheel is. I just chose to borrow a puller from autozone

I bought a steering wheel puller but never had the need to take it out of the package so ended returning it to Amazon :D

Swap is done! No puller needed. Such an easy mod and no more sticky hands!

Finally! I had a screw that was stripped but I was able to figure it out. I think I'm going to leather wrap my original wheel.

It arrived and before/after photos. Much better! Wheel came off a 14 Taco..all the controls matched up. But I still swapped them for the original ones.

I got mine and it was even better than the picture they provided. It came fully assembled minus airbag. The pic they provided just had the wheel no trim. The new one has MGM colored trim that I think I might keep. The buttons look the same minus the display button has a different icon on it. Would it still work? This is like the one they sent me in dark grey. Sorry if redundant but I am in m gu work car so can't compare to the Tundra right now.

Intalled my wheel today. Took the darker trim off the Tacoma wheel for mine, love how it looks
