do the Valhalla skid plates count as smoothing the underside?

I'd like to fab up a air dam and give it a trial run. How big would it need to be? like 3"?

    side bar-
Wife has an LS460L the WHOLE underside is smooth. it gets damn near 30mpg on hwy runs. However- women & chin spoilers are mutually contradictory. you know I'm right.

I had the Magnuson in my 2017 (gas mileage was very similar as long as you didn't get crazy AND the smiles per gallon went waaaaay up). I also had a Magnuson in my 2018 TRD PRO Tacoma. (It made a big difference but was underwhelming compared to the 5.7) I will be adding a Magnuson SC to my rig sometime around May.

I soooo wanted to put the mag on my '96 4runner....but was not in financial condition at the time.

that 4runner is still going strong with owner #2.

It probably helps some but its probably not "perfect' air channeling. Ride height needs to be dialed in via the "Goldilocks" protocol, lower isn't always better.

The dam would need to be below the lowest point which is probably the rear diff.

Oh very possible, after I put on full cat shields my hwy mileage went up by almost 9% (hand calculated)

What is the price difference between the two? My issue will be finding an authorized Harrop shop in my area. (PDX).

Practical: I have the Magnuson on my ‘18 and love it. I get slightly better gas mileage than without it during everyday driving. I also live at just above 5000 ft. I definitely recommend a custom tune. The one from Magnuson assumes you don’t even have an aftermarket exhaust.
Emotional: Oh baby! It’s soooo much fun. Blew the doors off a BMW 5 series and he was pissed. It’s fun to have a sleeper and even dust the diesel guys.

Maggie is going for $7195: https://magnusonsuperchargers.com/collections/superchargers/products/01-19-57-109-bl
Harrop is going for $7750: https://harrop-usa.com/tvs2650-tundra-lc200-lx-570-supercharger-kit/

If you sign up to various installers/tuner shop emailing lists you can get notified of specials; I was able to get the Harrop for a lower price than what the Maggie special was at the time.

Whipple had a pretty big "once a year" sale too unfortunately no tune was available.

I had a massive intercooler on my Toyota Supra, I would love to do something like that on my Truck. With the TRD pro grill you can see it, but just looks so small.

As luck would have it, it seems my OEM radiator has been leaking for a while and I didn't know it. Good thing I ordered a replacement.

This was part of the reason I saw no issues putting a blower and pulley on mine even at high mileage. My manifold pressure isn't much higher than a stock truck at sea level, and if I go down to 2000-3000ft it's still about the same as a stock blower at sea level. Engine isn't getting much more stressed (if at all), just "assisted" at higher elevation :D

When I had my SC my engine was FOOT ASSISTED. The more assisted the bigger my smile... I wonder if I could write this off as COVID Therapy??? I wonder if there is some Gov Assist $ available for this research!?

My wonderful wife gave me the green light to pay DAP this week the Harrop 1, 2, and tune! I've never owned a vehicle that will be as fast as this one will be in the next month or two once the h/w arrives and is installed. I'm already walking with a limp from the heavier foot :)

I bought it new and it was delivered in January 2016. 2016 stock TRD Pro (sans the slightly bigger than stock KO2s). 56,000 miles. I am a 100% mechanical rube. My crowning achievement was replacing the handle and side mirror on her 1993 Camry over 15 years ago. I celebrate with a stiff drink when I successfully change lights and batteries with no "oh-shit" moments. Not ashamed to say I know nothing but can't wait to learn.

I was given an option to add an HPTuner dongle with credits. Can you guys help me understand what I'd want to do with it? I have zero plans to change the tune - I'll leave that to the pros. The only thing I can think of would be if I had to take it in to Toyota for warranty work - would they potentially erase the tune and I'd use the dongle to fix or pay to have it tuned again? Would this also need it if I was having issues in-order to download and exchange data/updated files DAP?

My wife's favorite thing is when I first start it cold, then on nice days when I have the back window down and hit the gas. She loves the sound of the TRD exhaust. I'm more excited about the pending performance, but also can't wait to hear it! I'm a good neighbor - I don't want it to sound like a Harley going down the street every time I come and go, but nothing wrong with a little rumble in the neighbors background :)

If DAP is tuning it then you don't need the HPTuners stuff. HPT is mostly for DIY tuning and is very powerful, but you have to do all the work yourself. I wouldn't touch it (yet) if I was you.

Welcome to the club hombre…my TVS2650 gets installed in a few short weeks. It actually just shipped this past Friday. Little birdie told in the Harrop thread told me it really wakes up the ol’ TRD exhaust! Something along the lines of “the voice of satan” haha!

How the heck do you guys get 18 mpg with an SC? Better question, actually, is why would you install an SC and then baby it to save a few bucks on gas? The same money you spent on the SC could have gone towards a pedal commander and 3 years of gas with the pedal to the metal, so that makes no sense. I've got over 80k supercharged miles, and I've never seen better than 12 mpg...

I don't try to get 18 - it just happens.

    I cruise to work @ 60mph.

the point is - in bypass it acts just like a regular Tundra.

it the good old days - there was no bypass. that's another story.

pietz performance installed it - HP tuners - he's a good tuner

Prospeed is awesome too. they are good tuners too

I had mine tuned by D3 Performance in League City. no tuning was avail when I did stage 1. I live South of beltway 8. So they were closer. they did a great job. D3 only does Toyota.

I don't use an in car module. my shit is tuned & it stays that way. As @snivilous said....don't fiddle with it, unless you are Jedi level.

If i stop posting - it's because its Christmas light day - it means the ladder won.
