Yeah, way ahead of their time.
IMO Buick missed a real opportunity to set the automobile industry on it's side and bring back the GN.
Let all the manufacturer's play their cards and then release a new high bar in hp and quickness. After the Demon was rolled out, it was kinda too late.
I always though Toyota did that with the 2007 Tundra and had high hopes that the 2022 would have followed suit.

Weight difference isn't 1,000 lbs though. But if you could say, drop from 6k to 5k, you'd be ~20% faster off the line, but as speed built the difference would decrease a lot... air resistance dominates. An aero camper shell, lowering, etc would help in that respect.

I’m not sure what the weight difference is between the f150 powerboost vs the trd pro hybrid is, but I assumed it had to be a decent amount given how badly the powerboost wrecks the tundra in a drag race. Maybe some of it is the tuning, but the peak power is similar between the 2 and yet the real world performance difference is pretty stark.

Yeah, that’s not huge. Going by the rule of a tenth off the 1/4 mile per 100 lbs reduced, the tundra should run about a 14.2 if it were 350 lbs less which is still 4 tenths behind the powerboost. Something isn’t being accounted for in the tundras performance deficiency. It’s underwhelming.

I don't think the imax can run low 14s, you can't brake boost launch hybrids.

What the official 1/4 mile times between Powerboost and Pro hybrid?

    The Tundra has:

    350lbs more weight.
    AT tires vs street.
    Higher gearing.
Less aero. Check the 0-100 times.
    Probably shifts more gently.

Yea I think they should've tested a Limited hybrid as a fair comparison.

Either way I think they are all very nice vehicles, I just have a very hard time with the price tags, make modifying the truck seem very economical.

I would go with the SC V8 depending on what my goals were.

There is already chip for the Lexus LS500 (same engine). I think the supercharged 5.7 will destroy that thing and anything ecoboost. Having a supercharged 5.7 is a now or never thing imo. There will be no shortage of over boosted 4 cylinder engines in the future.

Here is a video of a supercharged tundra doing 0-60 in less than 3 seconds.

    Supercharger all the way.

Realistically you’re looking around $9k total. $7k for the Magnuson (now’s a good time to buy. I got mine on a Black Friday sale for $500 off.) $1500 for install. $600 for a custom tune.

    WORTH EVERY PENNY!

Viktor’s tundra is definitely on another level compared to the average supercharged tundra, but it does show what’s possible with enough time and money! Agreed on the now or never premise for sure. When I saw the reveal of the new tundra and how things were going that’s basically exactly what I said and dropped the money on the supercharger. It’s only a matter of time until they’re all legislated away. I always wanted a blown 5.7, and I have no regrets to this day. As technology progresses it will become comparatively less fast I’m sure, but it is a blast nonetheless.

Go drive a new one and tell me how it sounds compared to your V8. It sounds like you stepped on the gas in a Corolla! I don’t care if it makes more power if it’s got no soul, supercharged ALL THE WAY!

After reading this thread I gotta say, I can’t imagine spending $8k on a supercharger KIT and then letting someone else install it. Tuning it, that makes sense, it requires specially wizardry skills only few mere mortals possess, but a supercharger KIT? It’s just nuts and bolts… and it even has directions! Installing it is half the fun! Where have all our testicles gone?!
