I'll be using this thread to document my shop truck build.

Truck - 2008 single cab, TRD supercharged 5.7, 4wd, 2.5 swapped front end and bed.

There are a couple things I need to address on the truck pretty soon. The supercharger needs to have the coupler replaced so I will be pulling it soon to repair that. While I'm at it I will be replacing the pulley with a set up from @snivilous to get a little more boost at my elevation.

I also need to get the blinker wiring fixed and working, the previous owner hacked it up during the conversion so I have some parts on the way for that repair.

    I’m in!

I’ve got a weird thing for single cabs.

The purpose of this truck will primarily be a shop truck for me here at SOB fabrication. My other tundra is completely useless for hauling bumpers and steel so this will be what we use for that.
It will eventually get a flat bed built for it because when the previous owner swapped the new bed onto the truck they dropped it and did some damage that I don't care to try to fix. This is a bed we built for a Ford recently and I liked the style so we will do something similar for this one. Obviously it will be a little more off-road oriented and more clearance but close to this style.

You and me both! I didn't know how bad I needed one until I saw this one...the supercharger was pretty persuasive too.

This truck will also be adopting the 37's I pulled off of my other truck. Just need to order some 17's and ditch these 20's. These tires are just going on here so I could justify taking them off my other truck so it could get new ones. 37" AT tires will be the next new tires for the truck but these should get me by for a bit after they go on. Also pictured is the new tire for the other truck.

Can you go into detail on the front end and bed swap? I’d like to know more about wiring in the lights and how things did or did not bolt up.

I can't go too much into detail unfortunately, I'm just cleaning up the mess that the previous owner left. I'm not sure that the wiring needed to be cut and spliced for the newer tail lights but I think it would be easy enough to figure out with a test light if you did have to cut them. The bed and rear bumper are just a direct swap and bolt right up. The front fenders however looks like it had to be spaced up about .75" at the mounting points. That's about all I've figured out so far.

and to note, because I am not sh**** on my build... mine is a 97 ford ranger 5 spd. it was my dads putt to work truck before he passed away. So now, even though its not what I wanted, its my daily grocery getter that is being refreshed and tinkered with. i love that truck and look forward to building it out with all the dumb things because I can (I already wired in Tesla seats). But it still isnt a full size comfort ride. But man does it sip fuel... lol.

Already love it. Excited to see what you do with it. Would be cool to see this built like a lot of farm trucks around me with a Ranch Hand style bumper, flat bed, etc.

I fixed the coupler in the supercharger today. Pretty easy and straightforward job really. I also swapped over a 2.2" pulley from @snivilous and it made a pretty noticeable difference.

I got all the lights working this afternoon. It was missing all of the blinker "sockets" that go between the plug and the bulb. All the tail light wiring was just twisted together and taped up so it all got wired up correctly and sealed up. The headlights also didn't work, but they weren't connected all the way so that was an easy fix as well.
The truck is all functional now and now I'm just waiting to find some time to start on the front bumper and get some wheels on the way for the 37's.
If anybody has a lead on some steel 17" wheels, let me know. That would maintain a cool utilitarian look. If not, it will probably get the same wheels as my gray tundra, just in bronze.

Small update, but I pulled into the shop the other day and looked at the front end and remembered I had a can of plastidip in the paint cabinet so I sprayed the grille and hood bulge.

In for all single cab builds. Takes a lot for me to not buy another one. Not that I need two, I really don’t drive mine much, but they are cool.

Looking forward to seeing this one progress.

I had a minute this afternoon so I pulled the truck into the shop and did a cab mount chop and modified the pinch weld and firewall a bit for the upcoming 37's. I also got the fender liner modified to sit up inside of the fender now instead of hanging out and looking out of place. Now I need to sell these wheels and tires to get new wheels on the way.

Another small update today. My hood bulge started to come off the hood yesterday and today it completely came off one side. I left my tool roll in the shop so my only option was to break the other side off to get home because the wind was blowing pretty hard today and it wouldn't have made it. When I got back to the shop I replaced most of the plastic clips with nut clips and cut access holes to put allen bolts in so it will be hard mounted now. Similar to the way the sdhq hood light bracket remounts the bulge.

I've got a weird little intermittent issue with the truck. Occasionally it will crank, start up and then die after running for a second. Then it will crank and not start but after a few minutes it will fire right up and run fine. It has only done it about 5 times out of daily driving it for a month and a half and it always starts back up after a bit. I've changed the fuel pump relay to be sure it wasn't that and the it's not the security chip in the key because that light is off when I have this issue.
    Any thoughts?

Maybe check the pins on the ignition circuit in the fuse box. Make sure they’re tight. I know @AZBoatHauler had a similar issue

I experience this every time I disconnect my battery. Every first start up after it’s reconnected it runs for a second and immediately dies. Every start up after that is perfect.

In your case, maybe a loose ground or poor connection to battery cables replicating this?

I'll check that. I think I read that thread and I haven't had any of the other issues he's had but I'll look in to it.

Didn't think of that. It never resets any trip info and it's so sporadic I wouldn't think that it would be a ground but I'll check them while I'm looking.

On a positive note, I had some noise from one of the pulleys so I swapped the idler pulleys and tensioner and put on a green HD serpentine belt while I was at it. No more noise and the green belt should help any belt slip I may potentially get from the supercharger.

I got a new bumper built for my other truck today and the plan is to pull the one from the other truck to put on the single cab and put the new one on the other truck because I built the wings shorter for when I cut for my 39's. But I couldn't help it and threw it on the single cab just to see what it looks like.

    PXL_20231201_201321662.PORTRAIT.ORIGINAL.jpg PXL_20231201_201328677.PORTRAIT.ORIGINAL.jpg PXL_20231201_201338219.PORTRAIT.ORIGINAL.jpg

Now I just need to get rid of the 20" wheels so I can order the 17's for the 37's I have sitting around. That will change the way it looks quite a bit.
