I had mine tinted, made the roof enjoyable, it leave the sunshade open 95% of the time. No worries here.

Same here. I forget the percentage, but ceramic. In full sun, dimmed light, but very little heat. Love it.

Agree, I didn't really enjoy mine until I tinted it now I actually like it.....Full ceramic all the way around and on the Pano keeps the interior really comfortable. I have a hard time believing tint would cause the sunroof to explode.

I don't remember I've ever heard of Volvo glass shattering, and I was reading a lot of forums for 15+ years. A good share of cars came with laminated double layer glass, which is nearly impossible to break.

I mean honestly if they are going to deny it anyway, which everything I am reading makes me think they will if it does explode, why not go ahead and have it tinted, that way if it does explode at least it will keep it in tact. I always buy vehicles without sunroofs as I don't normally use them, and at some point they don't work anymore anyway, which results in an insanely expensive repair, and reading this makes me wish I had kept my 4Runner with no sunroof, but this truck didn't have the option to not have it. So I am going to go ahead and get the sunroof tinted, and just hope that this never happens to me, or at least that for 2025 they changed the type of glass used and that it can withstand whatever is causing them to shatter.

Recently saw a picture of the new TRD Pro Sequoia in the new Wave Maker color and it appears that the pano sunroof is gone in favor of a standard sunroof, or at lease the picture I saw was a standard one. All manufacturers have issues obviously but as long as pano roofs have been around, you would think that they would have perfected it, at least from a materials standpoint. Who knows? Fingers crossed that the folks, myself included that have these sunroofs in the car, and haven't had this issue, hopefully won't have this issue.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do! I know this is frustrating for all of us, wondering if we will be next! LOL

Good point on if they won’t replace it anyways and accept responsibility ‘without’ tinting then makes sense to go ahead and tint it. I doubt we can prove the tint causes the burst because it happens with/or without the tint. I’m going to tint it and enjoy leaving the sunroof open more often and have the piece of mind that the tint will catch the shards if it does shatter.

@Alphagreen I just don't see how tint could cause it shatter, other than maybe drawing in heat due to the color of the tint? It just seems insane to me with technology and testing, that manufacturers can't figure out a way to keep this from happening, especially as large of a company as Toyota is. I will say, having never been a fan of moon/sunroofs, it is a little freeing riding with it open on a nice spring or summer night with it open. Currently live in Colorado so the nights are just incredible here in the spring and summer, moving to North Carolina in July, so I suspect I will enjoy having it even more once we are there.

So I have seen post after post of this. What the common denominator is in most if not all explosions is the sunshade was closed. I'm wondering if there is a connection.

I have my whole sunroof ceramic tinted to where there is very little heat, but full light (I'm in South Texas) coming through the glass. I leave my sunshade open for the most part.

Hey! Providing a quick update. Toyota has agreed to cover the cost of the part but not labor. So basically $1500 or 75%. Was hoping for full amount but not going to fight it. Don't have the time or patience. But wanted to close the loop with yall.
