I'm seriously retarded in my abilities to visualize and assemble stuff. I love/hate the challenge of working through this stuff while I learn my way through doing truck mods myself.

I’m the exact opposite. I see how things are assembled in my head.

That’s shitty you had drama putting the rack together. I hope the final product is worth the effort!

Yes, it's a good rack. And probably will be no hassle for you (or most). That leg was probably a rare failure, and just coincidence it happened to someone ill-equipped to quickly figure it out and move forward.

I do love that this rack could move back and forth between trucks-- that's a serious value-extender!

It there a reason you went steel instead of aluminum?

Sorry, I forgot to answer. Yes, the steel is rated for about 50# more weight than the Alu Max. And I bought an RTT weighing 200#. Might want to attach some gear (or I'd have gone with Relentless bars), so the only wiggle room (or rather, way to avoid wiggling) came with steel.

Plus, inland SD is low humidity. Hoping for the best.

Copy. 200lbs is hefty for a tent.

Yes. I need a super big one because we're too tall for a standard 6' tent length, and I think it's unrealistic to plan < 24" width per person. I got a great deal (price point was good + free delivery and residential lift gate, about $450 saved). I coulda got one that weighs about < 50# less, but it would have cost more than $1000 more + shipping. Hard to rationalize that when we're just starting this "phase" of off-road camping.

*** and would rather blow money on a second truck and long travel. Touché.

I remembered that (and crossed my fingers that's what it was, and that you'll get to it when you get to the other side of this craziness you've scheduled for yourself.) Good luck with that thesis!

Alright. I've done a bunch more research, mainly on here, but also 'this' or 'that' comparisons on other forums for all kinds of off-road vehicles :pccoffee: . As of now my planned tires will be...

    :typing: Cooper Discoverer STT Pro

    LT285 75 16
, the same size that's on it now. As far as I can find, they're a bit heavy (61# in this size) but they're E rated, 10-ply, 3 ply sidewall, and a fairly true 33".

I decided my brain can't work all the equations to figure out how much bigger a tire I could run + backspacing and what not for replacement wheels, while I'm still trying to learn suspension. So... suspension and tires first, with the existing wheels + spares [from I don't know where yet. I'm one (or 2) wheels short. This truck came with a spare tire in the bed, not mounted :notsure: to a spare wheel so, if anyone has ideas about where I can score some cheap wheels (I still have to measure the width of the wheels or look for a part number; they're what's shown in et. the first post)], please point me in the right direction.

Any feedback or warnings about these tires? I looked at almost every well-recommended tire on here but ultimately decided to commit to off-road > on-road, because the only on-road will be to/from wheeling + to/from Costco
    for gas. :ohsnap:

Great choice on the Pro’s, seems like most of the 2nd/3rd gens who actually wheel their trucks run them.

I would look at wrecking yards and pick n pulls in your area for some spares.

Now... anyone got info on a great Black Friday sale on these?

I'll be doing Fambly stuff that actual day so Internet or phone sale will be the way to go. So far, looks like BigOTires has buy 2, get 2 til the 26th. But since I'm looking for 5 (probably won't get a 6th til I've rigged up some way to secure both spares on the truck), I figure I'll keep looking for even better....

I'm having trouble opening it on my phone, but I think this is it. I don't mind buying the protection plan but I'm note if I'd get benefit out of them do an alignment. And these won't go on the truck til after new suspension. So, for me, "just the tires" would be the best kind of deal. I think....
