    so please hear me out,

2013 double cab with under seat storage installed and not wanting to remove.

Is there a subwoofer box that fits behind the seats of a double cab, I have seen may low profile boxes but none with the under seat storage installed or mentioned.

Not looking for ground breaking bass, but an upgrade.

I have a 2013 with a non jbl system. I have upgraded the speakers and installed sound deadening material on all surfaces. I love the solid sound of the truck and less road noise.

I am swapping the head unit soon to a pioneer DMH-wt3800nex. So I am planning everything at once and want to plan it all at once. So if there is a box that fits, I can buy an amp and wiring at the same time.

You are really limited in space with the storage box in there, but it’s doable if you find the right drivers. BUT, you don’t really have room for it behind the seat back - just in the space between the seat back and seat bottom.

The way the seat back is in a DC (I also have a ‘13 DC) it fits within 1.5-2” if the cab, so no appreciable room for subs like you have in a full crew cab truck. Also, the way the seat pivots as you lift the bottom seat up, what space you think you have, really isn’t there. I’m planning on moving my amplifiers to that space and there’s barely room for them.

In the space between the back and bottom, you have enough room for a smaller 8” sub that is upfiring if you build the box tiny - like .3 cu ft tiny with 1/2” sides or you shave the back/bottom to fit. You MIGHT have room for a pair of Dayton HE180’s if you play it just right. I tried for years to shoehorn stuff in there and finally ended up pulling the under seat storage and dropping in a flat sub. If I was intent on keeping the under seat storage, I’d actually cut in to it just a little bit and build part of the box in to the storage compartment - like 3 inches or so. I know you would lose some storage space but it would open up so many more options. In fact, I’m tempted to try that now that I say it out loud…

For reference, I ran an infinity Reference 8” sub back there for a while but eventually the surround split. I know that’s a common problem with them but I believe actually having a passenger in the seat caused the cushion to contact the surround. I then ran a pioneer 12” flat for a few years, swapped it out for an NVX 12” flat, and am awaiting a a pair of SI BM11’s to see what all they hype is about. Of the three, the NVX is crazy impressive for what it is. Beats the Pioneer hands down. Hoping the BM11’s are as good as everyone’s hyped them up to be.

I would look into the kicker hideaway series. They offer a loaded sub with a small profile. It may fit behind the DC seat, and it would be an upgrade to the stock system.

I fit this behind the seats of my '07 DC. It took some trimming of the subwoofer box. It's not pretty, but it worked. I added polyfill to help make up for loss of airspace volume.

thank you. You showed me a subwoofer category that I was unaware of.

I am now down the rabbit hole of compact self contained powered subs. With many different brands and sizes I’m sure I can find one for my needs.

I just purchased a kicker hideaway from a forum member here. I have the kenwood ksc-psw8 that it will be replacing. I just wanted a little more “punch” but it worked fine for me.

Ha...I just got a JL Audio Stealth box a couple of months ago. That thing is deadly. Of course I had to get a bigger amp since the 500 watt wasn't big enough.

I know the space with the box sitting on the cab floor is at a premium with the bottom portion of the seat there but I've wondered about a way to mount the speaker to the cab wall, off the floor. The space behind the back of the upper seat is seemingly more available.

    Just a thought.

That stealth box will rattle your fillings loose! And would cost more than my entire set-up.......I definitely have sub envy, but my wife would never ride in the truck with me.

Lol...that's where the remote bass knob comes in handy.

it may even be easier to fit something in that category underneath one of the front seats. food for thought.

I had a Pioneer shallow mount sub in my Tacoma with a RF amp and it was great. It went with the truck when I sold it. I need to look behind the rear seat on my Tundra to see if same will fit. BTW, where can the Tundra audio and trigger wires be tapped?

    Just an update.

I settled on an alpine pwe-s8 and will be installing under the passenger front seat.

Based off all my my research I think this will suit me well. Again not looking for ground shaking bass, just a compliment to my sound and no real loss of space

I love it, got it installed under the driver seat, the woofer control knob is a must as I can quickly tune the bass of each song to optimum sound considering I listen to everything from podcasts, to country music and taylor swift (the kids I swear!). It can provide the boom if wanted/need through turning up the bass knob and the eq on the head unit. fits my needs perfectly and would recommend
