I have a demo playlist I created and I was very nervous to play it after my install. I thought the 12s might stumble or be muddy. A bunch of challenging songs...when it got to copy of a copy by nine inch nails I knew I had all I wanted in a system. Pink Floyd - they all sounded great. Im glad I got the sub volume knob though. Nora Jones, Fleetwood mac etc sound better when I take the sub volume down a bit.

I have a home system with a Velodyne digital 15" sub (maybe 3000watts?) and to me the truck sounds better

Stumbled across this thread and thought you guys might be able to give me some advice. I just put Focal ISU690s in the front doors, Focal ICU165s in the rear, doors, stock HU with an Alpine S-A32F 4ch amp and dynamat in all four doors. I knew prior to the install there was a chance it might not have the bass I wanted. Current set up sounds like a really nice system with the sub unplugged...
So looking for options to add some bass...listen to all types of music, don't need everyone in a one mile radius to hear my music but want my music clear and loud enough sound to drown out any road noise and a little more.
I found a self contained 8" and the installer said they actually sound better than they should but I'm not sold. Has anyone put something like this in the center console? Not sure how it would sound in the center of the truck...I was also thinking maybe two of these under or behind the back seats? Trying to avoid the big sub box behind the rear set.

Anyone have experience with something like these?

    Thanks in advance.

my first thought is being in the center console it would rattle everything around it. I dont know how much more it would be to have a ready made 10" sub with built in amp....i think kicker makes one? because the crewmax seat doesnt move you wont ever know its back there

Its not going to sound good at all in the center console. There are better ways than this IMO

I got the tech12hz sub made for the JBL system, but I actually had the non-jbl system. I had to buy a sub amp but it actually worked out better than expected. One amp with one 10" sub and still have the space for the factory jack and whatever else I put behind that seat. couldn't recommend it enough.

Thanks for the advice guys, I ended up ordering a box from tech12hz and can't wait!
