Called the dealer to add the fasteners to the order to find out the socket needed, he said there is a nut & the sensor. Looked opposite the sensor, I'll be damned! It is a 10mm nut. I swapped them from left to right & now am ready to install the new ones if it still happens.

    Overthinking it I was.

    Couple quick things:
I sent my central control module and seat belt pretensioners to myairbags.com (i think) for remediation and have been issue free.
Did you replace the clockspring in the steering column when you changed that airbag?
Did you change both front sensors?

I have not had an accident, just out of nowhere I am getting B1661, I can clear it in TechStream & it stays away for 5 minutes or 400 miles (road trip back from L.A. Sunday with 4 stops, no error).

After I got home I replaced the clockspring & swapped in another steeringwheel airbag & swapped the front sensors, it has come back. I ordered new sensors that should be here Wednesday.

    It's really weird.

B1161 is the RSCA off indicator light DTC, since you switched clusters you no longer has this indicator light, that is why the DTC is present

Shouldn't it have happened immediately? The 18+ cluster has been there for a year.

Is there something to be done in the code?

Sensors came (even has a new nut) but I have not had the error since Sunday, more than 20 trips, over 100 miles. Leave it alone?
