Shock and struts don't have anything to do with a "loose" front end. Please explain more. Also, have you read this?>https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/
Highly recommend it before asking more questions. There's A LOT of answers in there.

    Definitely read that ^^

Make sure there’s not a reason the front end is loose, like, the frame isn’t cracked or rotten. Biggest mistake buyers make. But beyond that, the suspension/wheels section has the info you need.

    "Front end a little loose"
That description is a little loose
Aside from what has been really good advice above, those lower ball joints need a good inspection and if they need replacing, use oem Toyota parts. Aftermarket ball joints can save you a few dollars today but will cost you tons more down the road

When I read "loose", that was my first thought. "Oh fuck, this guy probably doesn't know about the OEM LBJ nightmare these trucks have ... or that you MUST replace the LBJ every 100-125k miles, with OEM parts only, and fresh OEM bolts"..

He might not have seen this thread full of pictures of poor suckers who also didn't know.

And if his mechanic isn't familiar with Toyotas or the 2UZ-FE, I'd find a Toyota specialist. Because these aren't vehicles you let "generalist" mechanics fuck with. Do the work yourself or find a specialist, and don't go to a stealership unless you're ready to get robbed.

1 of the most reliable trucks made can easily be made to shit really quick by crap parts and the mechanics at the neighborhood tire shop. That LBJ is an example of Toyota quality parts, it holds up for years and at least 100k miles. Funny thing about that is the LBJ in the landcruiser is even better, they go past 200k miles.
