    2017 SR5 Double Cab
    Hi there -

I have a 2017 SR5 double cab and I'm looking to install white/amber lighting for street and highway work in the NYC area. I did some research and found multiple options with varying ranges of difficulty in terms of installation. I have gone to a few places around but I feel the local guys are highly expensive. I have yet to find someone highly knowledgeable.

I have seen do it yourself style strobe kits on strobesnmore.com, superpak by NOVA that include drilling into the light bodies and installing a power supply and controller. I have also seen very high end LEDs that mount to the roof, front dash, grill, hideaways etc. like the ones from feniex.com that claim to hook directly to the battery, but come with endless options for customization.

My experience with wiring is mediocre at best. I am wondering what my best option is. I was quoted $1000+ including installation for a rear light bar and 2 front dash mounts.

Any guidance would be highly appreciated.

If the lights are going to be on for an extended period of time to with LED. The power supply for strobes will drain your battery. Check out extreme tactical dynamics. Lower cost lights, many options and just as bright as other brands.

Definetly LED, and hideaways if possible. Maybe a couple in the front grill or a long strip between tailgate and bumper would be cool.

Or you could go old school and get a magnetic roof light run off the cig plug, maybe some wig-wags @SouthBoundSteve ?

I had a strobe Whalen dash master, then the flat Whalen for the sun visor. I had some rear wig wags set up at one point too.
We had an old 53 ford forestry truck I was engineer on. I rewired up the lights on it once, did wig wags headlights. Those were great. It had all halogens on flashers, no strobes at all. Cool truck that went everywhere, I drove that further into the woods and up mountains that a neighboring towns hummer H1 made it. It's still in service. Slow as hell, double clutch to shift, horrible brakes but it's still one of the best forestry trucks in the area.
