No, I don’t have anything the right size. They’re either too big or too small. It’s gonna coke off one way or another. My biggest thing is probably just being afraid to really screw something up.

Go to Home Depot tomorrow and get one of those flat heads I linked. You'll use it all the time after this.

Try to do it like we get broken wheel lock lug nuts off.
Find a socket that is just a tad smaller than the bolt head and hammer it on.
Put your rachet or impact driver on it and back it out.

    Would that work??

No way would I take this to the dealer, I'd be too embarrassed..:eek2::thumbsup:

That would be my first choice.
A cutting wheel on a Dremel would make a nice screwdriver slot..
If that didn't work you just keep cutting on the bolt head enough with a Dremel wheel and you could probably pop/chisel the head off with a big flat blade screwdriver and a hammer.
Then a left twist drill bit would probably get it out.

Sounds like it is too tight for left twist drill bits right now.

Yeah bro, slot it and use an impact driver. Just did the same on the rock buggy the other day.

Allen heads suck. I had to slot one today (used a hacksaw) that stripped on a brand new winch. Needed to remove the clutch housing to clock it.

I hope he doesn't post a picture of a drill bit sticking out of the outside of the bed.

I work in the rigging industry and have a lot of experience with frozen and stripped fasteners. One trick we had a lot of luck with was using an easy out and grinding the tip down so that it is a tight fit in the head of the bolt (where the torque bit would go). You want it to be just a bit tight so you need to hit with a hammer so it seats nicely in the head of the bolt. You can find a cheap set on Amazon or your local Harbor Freight.

Another option is to use a flathead screwdriver that is the perfect size so that if you hit it with a hammer it wedges in to the torque head.

Try heating up the fastener if possible to soften any loctite that an installer may have used. Sometimes people use red loctite instead of the temporary blue loctite.

Hope you feel better. Now, go back to bed and come back tomorrow and we'll have 42 more things for you to try. Just don't use a longer drill bit than what is necessary.

I used shorter drill bits when I initially drilled and tried to extract. And thank you, I’m never sick and I can usually power through, but this knocked me on my ass today.

I hope so too, it was so bad they literally told me to go home after two hours of work. Just didn’t have the energy to do anything but shower, drink water, and lay in bed.
