Our plasma table at the shop went down so while we were waiting on parts I made some progress on the camper build out. Plywood with vinyl floors and then insulated and used a MDF wood panel for the walls. I also got my water tank, fridge, rollover couch and power management stuff in. I still need to get the propex mounted and do a little more organization for the wiring but it turned out good. There is still a million things I need to get done to the camper but it's useable now.

We crammed all of that build into a few days so we could hit a trip with a group of friends to a lake in northern NM for a couple nights and then bounce up to Pagosa Springs CO with my parents for a few nights. It was our first trip with the new baby and she absolutely crushed it. The new camper and sleeping arrangements worked out great for us and both kids so I'm pretty stoked about that. We also learned a lot about how we want to pack everything and finish the build after 6 nights in it.

The interior build on our flatbed camper is pretty close to done. I still need to build a shelf for cooking appliances and storage but it's totally functional now. We had OVRLND put floor "joists" in and we completely enclosed the camper. We used 1/2" birch plywood covered with vinyl for the floor. Then we insulated the walls and covered it with a wood look MDF panel. The front left has a ~25 gallon water tank with a 12v pump. I still need to put in a couple quick connects for the water through the walls of the camper, but I'm not sure which ones I'll use for that yet. We have 400 watts of solar on the roof running through a renogy 50a dc-dc/mppt controller into a 200ah renogy lithium battery. We have easy fridge access from outside via the flip up hatch and it is still easily accessible from inside. Bags and chairs can be stored behind the back of the couch. The couch rolls over into a bed for our 3 year old. I'm going to add some molle panels to the outside of the rear doors for propane storage and a box for our water heater.

I also had some time last weekend to swap the XL sports out for new LP4's on the ditch light brackets.

Still running no front sway bar with all that added weight? How's it handle on the highway?

    Hey @STravis

The lighting package on the RIG is dialed! How do you like the swap from the XL sports to the LP4 on the A-pillar? Since you have them kicked out a tad do you still get some hood glare with the IPT?

    Best,
    Bill

Yeah still no sway bar. I definitely have some roll, but it's really not unmanageable.

Thanks! The biggest reason for the swap was because a buddy gave them to me cheap, and I really wanted the drl function. The XL sports were great ditch lights. However, the LP4's are super bright and the style is hard to beat. The IPT does not seem to make much glare on the hood, but I do have them aimed out pretty far. I do have IPT covers in the shop but I don't think they will be going on.

We got out for a quick overnighter this weekend. The camper is working really well and was definitely worth the change. I'm hoping to find some time this week to cut the parts to extend my roof rack to get my boxes mounted up top and then cut a couple panels for the exterior of the rear doors to get our propane tanks, water heater and water accessories box and the trash bag mounted. The interior of the camper should be pretty open when those couple things are hard mounted on the exterior. I also need to build a cabinet in the interior for our cook stuff, but it stacks pretty well without one at the moment.

I had some time the last couple evenings to make some progress on the roof rack extension and rear door mounting.
I decided to just add to the current rack instead of build a new one and it worked out great. I scored a couple huge ROAM cases a while back on a trade so I mounted them up there and had to turn my traction boards and move my radio antenna but it was a pretty simple job. What's two more holes in my non leaking roof??

Next up was drilling a ton of holes in the rear doors of the camper to mount a couple pieces of L track. I just used rivnuts and 3m tape to mount these. The passenger side will have the trash bag and a 10# propane tank. The driver side will have a case with my water heater, hoses and other miscellaneous water stuff and then a second 10# propane tank.

Yes they do. I've had so many different brands of bags and they never hold up, but I think this one will last a while. And the guy that owns the company is a stand up dude from my experience. He shipped our first bag and it got lost. He immediately send a replacement and when the second one showed up a couple months later he gave us the option to buy it at a huge discount rather than send it back.

For sure!!!! If you’ve followed him long enough, he got juked by a business partner that stole his design, and then opened his own business with top knotch customer service!!!!! I’ve turned 3-4 members onto his products. He uses top quality materials, I love how the water just beads off the canvas!!! I stick jumper cables, 50’ snatch strap, trees saver and a trash bag on top for most runs, with a hitch pin in the lower and extra bags in the flappy. You have a better mount system but for the most part the straps stay pretty good around the sprare

Yeah I saw that when I first found his company. Seems like he has recovered from that and like you said, his customer service is second to none. We'll see now my mounting system works out, my buddy bought the other one I ended up with and he has his on a 35" spare with no issues at all.

I couldn't either and when I was trying to think of it I remembered I have a gift certificate for his website in some of my stuff. So I went and found the name of the website and now I'm shopping for new stuff to use the gift certificate.

Almost! I'm just going for comfortable with a newborn and 3 year old. My wife thinks we need to pack everything for them when we camp so I need all the storage space I can get haha.

Holes are easy haha. Just try not to hit airbags, or wiring, or the headliner. And then make sure you seal it up really well. But what's a little mildew and mold anyways??

Dude I can relate. Wife packs three duffle bags for a one night trip. She will pack dress clothes and nice boots when we go to the woods and tells me “you never know what I’ll need”.. it hurts my head some times.

I hear molds good for your health

Yep, my wife would pack jackets for the kids if we were camping in Phoenix in July haha. It pays the be prepared sometimes. We usually don't get somewhere and are missing something important. I'd probably go without a lot of things if it weren't for her making sure I was taken care of.
