Yah, it's not the best. I was driving my wife's Lexus RX350 last week and tried out her adaptive cruise control, in conjunction with her "Lane Keep Assist" that keeps you in your lane as long as there are no sharp turns, and I started falling asleep on the freeway. I don't know if that makes her system better, or worse - but I ended up turning it off cause it freaked me out. One thing I really hate about the Tundra's is that it shuts off at like 23mph or something - the Lexus would come to a complete stop, and then start driving again when traffic picked up.

    That's the Canadian/European spec.

Just tested mine as well. In MPH
Adaptive: after set, bump up or down, it will keep up as fast as you can push it. Press and hold, it counts about as fast as you would count playing hide n seek.

Constant: after set, bump up or down, it will only get 3mph above the current speed. So so you can bump it 5 times a second but the set speed will only go up 3 above and as your current speed increases, as soon as it's 2mph difference, the set speed will go up 1. Push and hold. It counts slow and still only goes 3mph above current speed.

I really like the speed control system as is. It's designed to make you aware of your surroundings in relationship to speed vs weather conditions, traffic, etc.
It's more of a conditioning of your brain on driving in the real world.

I would argue that it makes you devote more attention to the speed you're trying to achieve than it would if it behaved like every other vehicle out there. Bump it up 5 times, it sets to 5 MPH higher. Should be that simple.

I'm not too interested in what speed it's going as to keeping with traffic.
If I want to exceed traffic I'm not using cruise control.

Is it really that frustrating though? I mean come on…if that’s what I have left in life to focus my frustrations on, I’ve got it made!

just accelerate with the throttle and reset it. Done

On a more serious note @Ellis_McPickle, if you still feel the need to contact someone about it I'd probably try to find a engineer that works for Toyota via LinkedIn and ping them there sharing your video. Probably more success doing that then submitting something through the dealer.

I tested regular cruise control and adaptive cruise control. After setting the speed, I can bump the stalk up or down and the speed with adjust by 1 MPH accordingly.

So two bumps up and the cruise speed is increased by 2 MPH.

Have you tried not shifting the stalk as rapidly as you do in your vids? What happens if you take a breath between shifts?

Yeah i think thats his problem. I just tried this and if you dont tap it so fast it will keep going up, its when you hit it rapidly that you have the issue.
