I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
LOL, yeah and my 4 year old son will probably want to as well.

The car is already quick, but more Freedom Eagles makes everything better right?

Keep the stock stuff, cause that boy is gonna be 16 someday.

i took my moms ‘98 z/28 to prom. Brought it home with cords showing in the tires, puke in the floorboards, and houston police asking about a toll cam pic showing 160mph. Told em it got stolen and i got it back.

That boy will not be getting access to those keys if we still have that car in 12 years.

Not sure what to do with it to be honest. It doesn’t get driven in the winter, and they were gaining value even before the current silliness. I could sell it for as much or maybe slightly more than I paid for it 6 years ago…

I suspect my son’s first vehicle will be a 3rd Gen Tundra probably a 2023 or 2024 model year. Then I’ll buy a new truck just before I retire.

Doing the parent thing later in life, so I’ll be eligible to retire about the time he’s 21.

Well we’ll have my trusty 2007 Tundra to do that on. Even if I buy a new truck, the old truck will stick around.

I am no expert on turning wrenches beyond basic stuff, but YouTube instructional videos and a budget for tools has helped me a lot already. Much less daunting when you’re not wrenching on a daily driver, that’s not gonna fly at my house.

Yeah when I need to learn how to do stuff I get to teach myself.

My dad grew up working in my grandpa’s service station turning wrenches on just about everything. By the time I came along he had gotten out of college, and started a profession in microbiology. He did not like busting his knuckles anymore after that childhood, so when something automotive needed fixing he gladly hired someone to do it. Never passed on those skills.

A pump gas engine is limited to about 100 hp/ L. So 470, but it’ll be moody and angry. Just exhaust i’d assume no more than 5-10hp if un-catted and tuned. Probably 3-4 if running a cool iat and free flowing cool intake. Not seat of the pants. Just a little more efficiency. If you order drive thru, it wont be worth it.

Plus the cylinder heads would need to be capable of flowing enough air to hit 100hp/L and I doubt a set of stock 4.7L heads is up to the task. The cams aren’t either.

4v makes great airspeed. Even with slow lift cams. But 2uz are 2 bolt mains, so after 350-400hp you’re stressing it.

It’s not an issue is it? If it is I’d just weld it back on.

The cats are a big part of the emissions system, and CA is pretty tough on that stuff. Depends on who does your smog, but could fail visual inspection if they look.

Not much gain. At the best 30hp, but not necessarily at peak power. The 4.7 is pretty hard to squeeze for more power.

Ohhhhhh. I was referring to just a muffler delete not removing my cat. I’ve seen the videos and removing the cat is LOUD. Also if I was to do that I’ve heard just to register the car to another county so you don’t have to smog it, then no inspection.
