Hey guys, new owner of a 2005 DC. Thanks for the welcoming community.

It’s looking like after 170,000 miles, no one has maintained the joints and control arms on this truck and they’re starting to fail. I’d like to have the whole suspension re done, but I’m having a rough time finding part numbers specifically for the trd off road DC from 05. I’m a boring guy, I just wanna start with OE everything and go from there.

I did see a post giving the part numbers for Toyota bilstein 4600s, but when I input my vin on a Toyota parts list, it said the parts may not fit.

Was anything else in the suspension different in the trd? (The brochure doesn’t say anything more specific than Bilsteins)

Here’s a pic, everything seems to be original other than the shocks. Also curious if this is the standard height for the trd from this year? I’d like to keep this height if possible.

Highly recommend reading up here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

Suspension/wheels section in that thread may help.

For 4600s, you’d go to Bilstein’s site and find the correct part number for your truck. You don’t want to pay OEM prices for this part. There’s a time and a place for “OEM bought direct from Toyota”, this is not it. Save your cash. Toyota used Bilstein for the TRD (yellow/blue) shocks, and KYB for the black shocks. If you had the TRD shocks, 4600 is the closest you can get to it today. KYB, anything but Gas-A-Just should be close, I want to say @whodatschrome mentioned spring differences with the G-A-J from KYB.

Anyway, the elephant in the room here isn’t the shocks. At 175k miles, the ticking time bomb on your truck (suspensionwise) is probably the lower ball joints. LBJ is one of those things you should be swapping out every 100-125k miles to avoid catastrophic failure *IF* you know OEM parts and fresh bolts were used. If you’re naive or stupid enough to use aftermarket on the LBJ, change every 10k-20k miles to be safe. Yes, OEM will last you 5-10x longer, those numbers are not typos. There’s a 50 page thread here full of victims who didn’t believe it… and engine wise, the timing belt, water pump, tensioners and pulleys are what will turn the engine into a boat anchor. Radiator will turn the transmission into a boat anchor. Those are the trifecta you should be replacing every 100-125k with OEM only parts (Denso or Aisin brand, from a legitimate source i.e. avoid scAmazon or fleaBay, or buy Toyota direct for LBJ and their 4 bolts per side).

Truck looks nice! Welcome to the forum.

You're on the right track getting OEM ball joints, but for shocks I will say the Billstein 4600's are a great improvement in ride quality over the originals. I have them on both my Tundras.
