Stock Pro Suspension Front, ICON Progressive AAL Rear?

    My Pro finally came in and knew I couldn't leave it alone for long. While the front looks tough with the 2" lift, the rear of the truck looks a little scared. I do like a little rake to my trucks. I've researched the many lift options and I have kind of settled on the ICON progressive AAL which will give me 1-1.5" of lift in the rear and apparently will improve the ride? @ToyTec Lifts has them on sale right now and with my itchy trigger finger, I am ready to hit "order". Does anybody have any experience with this setup? Do the ICONs actually improve the ride and wheel travel and will I need new rear shocks? I'm trying to keep the Pro as stock as possible but just trying to get the rear bumper and trailer hitch off the ground. One last question... Will the ICONs put me too high in the rear with the 2" lift up front?

    A rear shackle from toytec or dirtydeeds will also get you that rear lift and improve the ride.

    I actually looked into that as well. Unfortunately with the TRD dual exhaust I cannot install an extended shackle unless I modify/reroute the exhaust which I don't want to do.

    Not true at all. I'm running +2 shackles and an AAL with TRD duals. Lot of guys on here are and didn't have to touch the exhaust

    I have CB shims up front on the Pro suspension as well which gave me about a 3" all around stance

    Really? I was reading a thread where David at ToyTec stated that since the leaf is being pushed closer to the exhaust (with the shackle), it will come in contact at full flex. Does your AAL make a difference in spring rate so that it doesn't droop down far enough to hit the tailpipe?

    Honestly the ICON Progressive AAL is one hot item for Tundra guys. The reason being is that they will maintain factory load and towing capacities, help improve ride quality, and still offer increased wheel travel! Nice easy install that can be done in an afternoon with a couple buddies!



    We have seen our shackles push down the leaf packs onto the TRD Exhaust systems, "custom modifying" may be needed to insure proper clearance with that system and our shackles.

    I can't speak for Toytec but Coachbuilders were built mainly for the Pro application. It was close but never had an issue with the tails hitting the leafs when wheeling.

    2"CB shackles, bushings and 1 shim, lockerdown console vault, rear folding seat back mod, snugtop shell with opening side windows, 46g fuel tank, SDHQ sliders and hidden winch, Decked Drawers, Alcan leaf springs and got rid of the interior chrome
    I'm pretty sure most people who add the shackles never check the rear at FULL droop. With 2" CB shackles, it hit my pro exhaust so I cut the tips off. @boardude get your truck where one of those rear wheels is off the ground and look at it, then get back to us and tell us what you see.
    @Tundrazy what you heard and toytec told you is true, but most people don't put their trucks into off road situations severe enough to ever know.

    I love the performance of my ADS rear shocks with the Icon expansion pack and Wheelers bump stock.

    I opted to install the expansion pack without the overload, I wanted ride improvement without adding height. Driver side 3/4" and pass side 1" of lift obtained.

    Ride quality over the factory is like you wouldn't believe both on and off road :)

    Lol well yeah at full droop I can see it getting close or making contact. Even in extreme situations how much are you really in full droop at one time? Even on a stock application the exhaust would be close to the springs in full droop. That's why the tails have hangars to flex so you're not gonna break anything.

    I've wheeled a ton without any issues so the AAL might have helped but I can also see it making it worse.

    Btw, I'm running BAmufflers with turn downs so can't do your experiment. I ended up replacing the tails with turn downs because I was threatening to crunch the tails into the rear fender in low clearance situations.

    I'm running the Icon leaf pack as well as the CB shackles. Ride is still as smooth as stock. By cutting the tips off i eliminate all chances of contact from full articulation. For the same reason of not diminishing any of the off road capabilities, I will not add the rear sway bar.
    @Tundrazy this could stiffen your ride a bit unless you're carrying a load. I needed to do this because I'm carrying considerable weight all the time.

    6112s @1.9", TRD Dual Exhaust, rims, tires, jl audio system
    FWIW I added the 3 leaf AAL to my 2018 Crewmax SR5 4x4 TRD OR and it *seems* to have only raised the rear .75". Note however measurement was taken with just over 3/4 tank of gas so maybe that has something to do with not getting the full 1" - 1.5" lift in the rear as advertised. I do not have any armor or heavy bumpers that would affect it. I do have 6112s up front at 1.9" and added the AAL Pack to try and regain some factory rake for towing and hauling purposes. They do ride nice but was hoping maybe they'd lift just a tad more than they actually seem to have lifted.

    My hub to bottom of fender measurement was 24.25" with factory rear suspension. After the icon leaf pack I'm measuring at 25.00"....
