Almost done. Any opinions on fender flares vs clean?

    Hey all,

Been thinking about doing this bumper chop mod , pics are not mine they are just for reference.

I really like the way the blue one is done up with the lights in there as well. My main concern is the removing of the crash bar with nothing to replace it... Its just not safe , and im worried about insurance as well if I was in a crash.

Came up with this idea, wanted to run it by you guys.

    https://www.ampdupllc.com/product-page/04-double-cab-tundra-hidden-winch-mount

So this hidden winch mount actually replaces the crash bar. I was thinking theres no way this will be as structurally sound and safe as a factory crash bar, but I emailed them about this and they said this:

"It replaces the crash bar yes. The winch mount is 3/16" thick vs the crash bar is less than 1/16" thick so yes, it's much stronger than the crash bar"

As you can see in the pic, it doesnt even mount to the same location as factory crash bar... doesnt mean its not as safe, but I dunno... I have doubts, looking for opinions on this

Finally, my two concerns are: will it look ugly? I feel like it will be okay as long as everything in there is black as well, but im not sure

Second concern, will it be as safe as crash bar? If not, I was thinking I could ask a local fabricator to make me a winch plate like this, but to make it so that it mounts to factory crash bar mounts...

    Anyways yea, thoughts?

One of the newer Texas folks has done the bumper cut shown on the blue truck. I think it's @FishNinja? Whoever it is, definitely in TX, definitely a silver truck. So many members, so many trucks, so few brain cells left... I do love that blue truck's wheel choice and would love to see more pics?

I would say it sits too low and mounts in a terrible place to be structurally sound during impact. She maybe thicc but that’s not protecting you from front impact.

Also if you look where the stock bash bar is it sits low. Pretty low and pretty far back for a winch. IMO I’d like my winch to be set a little further forward and a little bit higher for ease of access.
