Patrick, when you did this install, do you remember if fluid came out of the transmission cooler lines when you disconnected them to swap out the shroud?

Why would you need to disconnect the cooler lines for the install?

The 2 lines run from the cooler go through the shroud. The holes have to be drilled on the Stillen shroud.

If I'm not mistaken, it's because we have pre '19-'21 with the factory trans cooler so we don't have the DIY trans cooler behind the grille. Am I right?

Ours is a simple shroud swap

I have the same cooler kit that is shown in the video in the first post. If there is no kit installed then it's a simple shroud swap.

Hmm. Must be different on 20s. I didn’t need to do anything but install the shroud on my 18’

Ahh. I honestly didn’t even watch the video and think it was an external cooler. Makes sense.

Looked at plexiglass when I was at Lowes. They have clear that is .080 thick and bronze that is .093 thick. The bronze sheet is 30x36 and $46 for a sheet. A rough guess without measuring is maybe 4 covers could be made from that sheet. IMO I think the bronze would look better than the clear.

I ended up getting the .220. It's real thick. You'd probably only be able to get 2 with that sheet size. My first attempt failed when I dropped it and broke in half :facepalm:but I'll give it another go someday.

Did you do the Stillen or the trans cooler first?

Pretty sure in the vid, Patrick drilled holes into the shroud. So probably trans cooler before Stillen.

That's why I was confused when he said direct shroud swap. I have to remove the lines to swap it out.

I actually did the intakes first. The intakes were done in June 2020, the cooler was November 2020 had to go back and check the dates on the videos to be sure

Gotcha. I was just wondering how much fluid I'll lose when I disconnect the lines.

So where is your intake tube sitting in relation to the shroud opening. My kit is the one that has the block off plate option. If I install the tube without that piece, the silicone coupler is too short. Installing it with that piece, I had to push the tube through the opening to get it to fit. I doubt having it sticking out versus being flush with the shroud will make any performance difference. I think getting a new coupler and getting rid of that blockoff would make a cleaner installation. Another option is replacing that piece with some PVC and leaving the tube protruding through the shroud. @pvn.beluga @TacomaTRD4x402

Did you get the right part number?

    Should have been TP403203.

There are 4 different part numbers. Brianna asked what climate I was in and did the invoice and sent it to me.

    I also missed this post.

George, when you call them, I would ask them to see if they can send you the longer coupler that comes with the kit that doesn't have the block off plate free of charge. Looks like instead of 1 long one, they send you 2 short ones because of the block off plate.
Either that or you'd have to get one yourself.

We just had about a 15 degrees temperature drop here in the last day or 2. Holy shit.....the Stillen loves that cooler air! I still need to put the TRD accelerator in.

Same here in Cali. We've been down from 100°+ down to low 80's but those cold mornings make a huge difference.

I still need to get me that Pedal Monster that you got

Holy shit....coldest air since the install. 66 degrees out, 80 mph, IAT was 69 degrees. Paired with the Pedal Monster at Sport 5, it was snappy :D.

You can just feel the performance increase with the front air ram. It opens up nicely and brings in all that cool air.

Now that I'm running a scangauge I can measure temps everywhere.
What would the IAT be without the Stillen?
