Is it really necessary moving to 4.88 or 5.29 gears if I can still spin my 35 tires? :burnrubber: I was worried I was going to lose power when moving to the larger size but it doesn’t seem like I have. I should note that the tires are 11.50 wide and not the normal 12.50 wide. I’ve seen Silverado’s not even be able to get a chirp out of their tires when going bigger.

I tested my take off with all nannies off yesterday and was still able to burn rubber. I wasn’t expecting that with a larger tire.

yea, i'm not shocked to hear you are doing it with a bigger tire. Next question, how long do you spin for? What are your plans/usage of the truck?

I wouldn't regear on the 35s, I don't think its really necessary. When I had my 37x13.5s, I could still chirp the tires when I wanted to on a 4.29 ratio. Unless you're towing or really need the power, I wouldn't spend the 2500-3000 to regear. IMO

Yeah it really comes down to what you're using the truck for. I'm going to 4.88's with 34's because I don't want to lose anything when I tow.

I’m not towing anything. My truck is just my daily driver with light Offroad use when I head to AZ occasionally. No mountian roads as part of my normal commute. Would I save on gas if I moved up to 4.88?

You may save gas, but it would take a while to recoup the cost of the gears and install.
