Rockport has a curfew 7pm to 7am. Not expecting power or water for two weeks. Brother's house reportedly in good shape.Tree fell on his pickup, the '90 Jeep Comanche I sold him when I bought my Tundra. That was my baby for 23 years. Anyway, we'll be down there tomorrow. Probably stay a couple days. He's the pharmacist in charge at the Rockport Walmart, and they want him back at work like yesterday.

So I am living thru this. I live 2 miles away from the Brazos and it is going to crest soon. We remained under voluntary evac, but every neighborhood in front of us has been mandatory and now the streets are blocked off. I've been going out 3-4 times per day checking on stuff, I think I'm done.

I had a Tacoma that lived 10 years and many floods. Took it thru 4' once. The only thing that every happened to it, was the leaf springs started squeaking. $200 at the dealer for new spacers and it was fixed.

I kinda couldn't wait to see how my Tundra would do in high water. I do have the Offroad package and larger tires, so I'm a little higher off the ground. It has been perfect plowing thru 2'-3' of water. I just went thru some of the highest water yet and popped the engine bay when I got home. Just splashes of water here and there, on the light cables, a little on top of the battery, looks like it will all dry easily. Nothing really on the block at all.

Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone thinks I should have anything to worry about or have the dealer look at on my next oil change since I'm still under warranty. And I promise, I'll try not to go out again!

Oh I don' think it was been more than 2' yet. Just a 1/4 of the way up a stop sign post. It's supposed to go to 4'-5' on the streets, sparing our houses by 10' or so.

I know this seems silly but as someone who lived through catastrophic flooding 2 years ago

Please don't go driving around if you don't have to. While the water may only be 3 feet deep, you cannot see what's under to water, or if the road is gone or any number of other hidden hazards. Potholes, sinkholes, washout etc can all swallow a truck very quickly, even a tundra, and rushing water can move a large vehicle at around the 2 foot mark

You guys heard about the Joel Osteen guy? Apparently he's been asking for support for the people affected by the flood and pleading for monetary and physical help. Been tweeting quite a bit about it. Thing is he's asking for donations to go through his Houston mega church and isn't opening the doors to his 17k occupancy arena/church to help displaced people ( unlike arenas in NO during Katrina). Twitter people are so pissed at the hypocrisy.

Anytime there is a "mega church" 9 times out of ten they are in it for the money. Not saying all mega church's are like that because I know this is a sensitive subject but it's true
